Fighting Is Magic livestream and a bunch of people doing the personality test.

Hmmm...let's see...

• Twilight: At first I thought classical, but that's more up Rarity's alley, so I'm going to say prog rock. Stuff with lots complicated time signatures and whatnot.

• Applejack: Country, obviously. Maybe Southern Rock as well.

• Rainbow Dash: Thrash Metal of the "play as fast as humanly possible and headbang so hard you give yourself whiplash." variety

• Rarity: Classical, maybe some jazz. The kind of old-timey music that only sounds right coming out of a victrola.

• Fluttershy: Soft/ambient rock; stuff like Coldplay.

• Pinkie: "Weird Al" Yankovic, They Might Be Giants, Jonathan Coulton.

Actually I imagine that Applejack would hate American country. 90% of it is about a) Women as desirable objects or b) alcohol.

I don't think she would mind stuff like Taylor Swift and the Dixie Chicks, but real country would probably gross her out.

I also see Rarity as a Opera Junkie.

Looks like John de Lancie saw the show as just a "fire and forget" type deal. He had no idea what he was getting himself into.

The fact that he's going to be at BroNYCon means he's probably warmed up to the reaction to the show a lot more than he made it seem there, though.

You forgot c) Trucks and tractors. I hate living in a rural area. EVERYONE listens to that stuff.

@L Mage: I've never listened to Country in my life, so I wouldn't know. I was going by sound rather than subject matter.

I still say Twilight listens to prog. She's probably love bands like Rush or Yes.

I feel I should start a Twitter account just so I can follow Tara Strong. She's hilarious.

"Princess Celestia made me write, "I will not troll" 100 times on a blackboard."

Two tweets later, she posts a picture of Twilight in a bikini. Oh Tara, you so silly.

...and I just realized why I hate American country.

It sounds horrible AND the lyrics are rubbish.

Or maybe I have a new reason to hate country?

@ J teeth, ok it had to happen, for once I REALLY disagree with a lot of stuff in your review.

Your issues with the Cold Open not really having a big relevance other then humor- And the issue is...? this isn't some heavy drama, there is no reason for there NOT to be a few scenes here and there that exist solely to make the viewer laugh, as long as they don't end up being Manatee Gag's

You issue with the song making Pinkie seem universally loved-I've covered this one with you before, it was a musical number, you have to take the images with a grain of salt, it's not like anyone really thought Pinkie could clone herself because she had two of her in song, and even assuming there were a large number of ponies actually singing, like I said, ponies just HAVE to join into big musical numbers no matter what, but really, the second the song was over, there was NO where near as many ponies in sight.

And the whole second half where you claim she ignored her epiphany in the library-No she didn't, she accepted that Cranky would never want to be her friend, but she still felt horrible about destroying his book, the second chase was not about being friends, all she wanted was to apologize and make up for what she now knew she had screwed up. true she never does understand WHY Cranky doesn't like her, but that's another issue. Slight differnce, but it does matter.

Finally, she DID learn the lesson, she realized Cranky needed his space, and respected that...at least cerebrally, she's still hardwired to go all out and forget stuff like personal pace when she gets excited, but she took the hint very quickly once the donkeys reminded her, she just left. If they keep the contiuity with this, it would mean that yeah, she'l still do everything to make friends she can, but she'll also be willing to take the hint that the new pony just needs some space. Or that some friends just need time alone, it doesn't mean they hate you just becuase they don't want to be around you 24/7

Like I said, a lot of it basically just comes down to how well you can tolerate her antics. My main gripe with the library was that she basically goes "yeah, I should give him some space" and then promptly doesn't do that. It's something of an Ignored Epiphany. She was trying to apologize for being overbearing while being overbearing. It's like if somebody gets mad at you for continuously calling them in the middle of the night and waking them up, and then calling them at two in the morning to apologize for calling late at night.

But yeah, this is one of those "to each his own" kinda deals. If it didn't bug you, more power to you. I just think that Pinkie went overboard.

I could see Applejack really not caring much for music at all. Though I guess she might like some southern rock a la The Allman Brothers.

Can we drop the arguments about the episode please? I am kind of tired of talking about it holding back from complaining about it even more. I do not really want to get mad at this show if I can help it.

Hm, rather than a 'just doing it for the money thing' I'd bet it was probably more like 'Eh, why the hell not, I'm not doing anything else this weekend.' That interview was pretty amusing though. Interesting to see how forgettable he considered the role.
