And yeah, I'd put the first (publication order) Daring Do book at 15-20 years before the events of the pilot episodes, with books being put out every year/18 months or so.

@ L Mage: Well think about it. There's 16 books in the series, right? That means at best they were written 8 years ago but it's more likely that they started being written at least 20 years ago assuming about one year to write each book, but even that isn't super likely.

Then there's the fact that the author might not have even written them to be set in modern times.

Edit: Oh published, not set?

Spongebob was always something that I went "Hey that's on! Not a bad thing to watch."

I was never that into it. Mostly because I prefer action/adventure/fantasy show of which there are so few...T.T

I just watched that old G1 show with the 'crab nasties'...erm...what was rubbish about the old show exactly?

The animation was OK (by the standards of the mid 80s), and those Crab Nasties were kinda cool! OK, it is cutesy and a bit stupid...but it could be worse.

Actually, all this Spongebob talk made me realize something. As much as people rag on Pinkie's characterization, she's still ten times deeper as a character and any other "silly for the sake of silliness" characters on TV. This show just sets everyone's standards way higher than they are for other shows.

And yeah, I was the same way with Spongebob. I'd watch it if it was on, but I never really went out of my way. Probably because I'm just not a fan of shows where the main characters are idiots, which is probably why I always liked Squidward so much.

Loved the show and the movie since I was a lil' boy. Then the later seasons came by, Patrick took a massive level in dumbass as did Spongebob, Squidward became a Butt Monkey, Krabs went from mildly cheap employer to a heartless greedy bastard with insanely fucked up business practices....

....yeah, realizing I didn't like what the show became did not sit well with me.
