Yeah, and as to her age, it's never said, but she's at least the Mane Sixes age if not older, she's just really small for her age. The reason for the .5 in the chapter number is the author put it as a separate little addition that could be skipped if you want to avoid it.

Odd thing is it worth reading even if you skip and sex stuff for the character development, that parts really where it makes clear that the story is about hope, and where Littlepip truly realizes that as bad as things are, there are still good ponies that deserve better, and she wll do whatever she has to make there lives better.

You ever notice how some pairs get a lot of screentime while others got next to nothing? Dash & Fluttershy are seen toghter plenty of times, as are AJ and Rarity, but a Fluttershy AJ combo? Apart from about half a minute in Dragonshy they practically never interact. Same goes for Pinkie and Rarity or Pinkie and AJ, since most of what we saw in the Last Roundup was strictly a reaction to Pinkie's motermouth.

Oh yeah it's canon hence why it's on the Fallout Equestria page. But it's not mandatory to read.
