Blue, stop liking so many awesome things. Although I would debate either not having "much in the way of a villain." I mean, the House and Navidson's own insanity would kind of count, and Strega ends up actually doing something a few times.

Drenius, I barely recognize any of the items on that list.
And yeah, villains are awesome.

@Ginger: Would you please stop trying to make it seem like we're all against you? Most of us like villains, we just don't like them exclusively. Maybe you should give a few non-villain-powered stories a try. There have got to be some exceptions to your preference out there.

yes good villains are awesome, that's the biggest thing I'd recommend Order of the Stick for, the incredibly epic villains. But also, it is possible for a work to be awesome without a villain. Nother great example Star Trek IV

@Ginger: It's fine that you like villains, but the only thing that's really isolating you from everybody is your reluctance to try anything that gets suggested because it doesn't fit your preferences. It's like you've already decided that any story that doesn't fit your criteria isn't worth your time.

A really good villain could have been the protagonist, if he/she/it made a different decision (or string of decisions) somewhere in their backstory.

Or could even be the protagonist as they currently are, in certain cases.

Point being that they're very sympathetic, I suppose.

Ginger, as it seems you missed my statement, I LIKE VILLAINS! However, my love for villains is directly proportional to how believably human the reasons behind their villainy are. If it's some freaking cookie cutter schlub looking for world domination for no reason, that's not interesting to me.

This is the exactly how antagonists/villains should be.

JT is right, this very show is outside your described ideal story yet you still enjoy it. Clearly you're capable of enjoying other things. Give them a try (I have to second Order of the Stick for example)! And remember that just because none of us have your exact personality, doesn't mean that you're alone in your opinions! JT and I have this joke that we like exactly the same thing, but it's a joke! We realise that no one's going to agree with you on everything!

EDIT: And it seems that I've been ninja'd to the pont of uselessness.
