Burn the heretic!

On another note, now that I think about it, printing out fics for offline reading might be an interesting new thing I could try. Though I would have to do the printing when I'm alone in the house. (I'm sort of a closet brony in that regard.)

If you liked it, you would do it. As it stands, you simply like the Internet more.

Bad: I took it to mean Legacy stayed in the darker and edgier style as well.

@Perpetual Lurker Not really. It's just easier.

[up][up][up] Liking one thing more doesn't mean you don't like the other thing.

[up][up] Thanks.

@ Seraphem: Yeah, Red Eyes is one of the best villians I've ever seen.

@ Ginger: I know that because you won't bloody shut up about what you like in a story.

Iron Towers is a really active and fun villain, even if his arc isn't really much to speak of, and I play him off a much weaker, but more subtle villain in Red Letter. It has a massive dose of Earn Your Happy Ending, and if you don't read the epilogue it has a Bittersweet Ending too. The protagonist sort of serves as his own antagonist for a while, so we'll see how that goes.

Anyways, the whole thing is extremely character based, and the villain is fun for when he appears. I think you'd like it, at least.

[up][up][up][up] And I never said he didn't. I guess I just need to give up trying to understand Ginger's motivations. It only leads to more arguments. sad

BTW, just wanted to check one more time on the chronological order for the Daring Do fics. After the discussion last night, this is the order I ended up with:

  • Trident of Seaponies
  • Spear of the Windigos
  • Sapphire Stone
  • Platinum Crown
  • Griffon's Goblet
  • Curse of the Yeti
  • Wooden Mask
  • Gardens of Equestria
  • Alicorn’s Shadow
  • Cove of Candles
  • Staff of Star Swirl the Bearded
  • Trials of Unity?
  • Temple of Nightmare Moon
  • Legacy of Nightmare Moon
  • Shrine of the Silver Monkey
  • Ring of the Marengeti

Basically, we really need to finalize an order, or else it's going to start screwing people up more than it already has.

No? May I ask why not?

I do sort of want to know what you actually like. I may actually find something you'd be interested in watching for once, so you can stop bloody feeling like your all alone in a big mean world.

[up] works for me. Wooden Mask and Gardens of Equestria can be part of the 'king of the earth ponies' plot.

I should ask, though: How much, exactly, has been solidified of an overall plot? I know that there was supposed to be one, but I don't know what kind of constraints I'm working under here, and how much my idea have already been nixed.

Perhaps our poor Ginger friend is a Gingerhipster, and if we shill anything we like then he by definition isn't interested.

We're talking about ponies on the Internet, Ginger, we're all already plenty weird. Nobody cares that you like different things. In fact, if we all liked the same things, there would be nothing to talk about. wink

@Mousa Interesting theory.

Were it not for the fact that this thread convinced me to read Homestuck, A Game Of Thrones and hopefully watch the Tin Tin movie. and the fact that I WANT to read Fallout Equestria (I think I'll print off one or two chapters in a bit.)

@kegi I'm not a fan of heroes being more a threat to themselves than the villains are. At least when it's to the extent that you make it sound

@ Mousa: Not possible, he is after all reading Game Of thrones.

@ Kuroi: Makes sense. One other thing I'm wondering about is what makes Temple and Legacy directly linked. Nothing really seems to other than Nightmare Moon and if so shouldn't The Alicorn's Shadow be there as well. Unless maybe Daring has some injuries at the end of Temple that aren't fully healed in Legacy or something.

I guess I'm the hipster then, I'm not Reading a Game of Thrones and Homestuck is still boring even though I am in the midst of giving it a second chance.

Fucking Hell! I don't even know how to fucking touch this thing.

Prologues, Intros, eilogues, audio stories, side stories. You guys expect me NOT to be intimidated by all this shit?

He's a threat to himself only in the danger that he'll give up.

The core plot centers around Blueblood's growth as a character. A third of the way into the book his sense of self-worth is basically crippled as he realizes just what an asshole he's been, and a bulk of it is about his interactions with an old soldier who helps him back onto his hooves. For all his angst - note that is angst, not wangst - I like to think it's fairly clear just how strong he's always been, and how giving up is never really in the picture. He tries it once, but it doesn't stick.

Iron Towers, on the other hand, Physically cripples and emotionally traumatizes him in the first chapter, and spends the rest of the story trying to hunt him down and murder him, culminating in a fight where he is literally chewing the scenery he is so insane.

Shadow doesn't actually have NMM directly, it's an artifact that essentially has shadow a of her, it's more there as foreshadowing (double duty title) of the final plan in Temple and to make sure that bringing in NMM doesn't seem like an asspull.
