Sure, "love" motivated him to use that strength, but there's so reason to believe that the potion itself grants super strength.

Lauren was involved in creation of Cadence and her story, but that princess was turned into alicorn after Faust stoped working on show. So third alicorn in show wasn't planed, that little disturbing news.

@Bad Except for the fact that:

1.) The episode never told us that.
2.) Big Mac has displayed enough strength to casually punt dozens of Mares dogpiling him OVER THE HORIZON in a previous episode.
3.) Cheerilee would have displayed similar strength, yet it took her several concentrated barges to break through Carrousel Boutique's door.
4.) OCCAM'S RAZOR!

I will say that the potion removed his ability to hold back, but not that it gave him super strength

@ Ginger: 1: No episode has ever told us that Earth Ponies have super strength.
2: In a previous love induced magic thing.
3: Assuming that the strength was multiplied, due to Big Macs higher starting strength he would have ended up with far greater strength than Cheerilee. Who still displayed the strength to break down doors like it was nothing.
4: The obvious solution is that Earth Ponies are so strong they can casually pull houses?

In canon, Big Macintosh is the only earth pony with super strength. I don't think all of them have that kind of potential.

Ginger, stop taking it like a personal attack. I seriously doubt that they don't believe that E Ps have superior strength solely because it bugs you.

That said, I think there's a good amount of evidence that they are stronger than the other breeds. First off, there's absolutely no reason to believe that a love potion would boost their strength somehow. Second, the ponies in general are strong enough that there's no reason that Cheerilee needs a boost to break a door down. If Twilight is physically strong enough to carry Tom around, I think Cheerilee can knock down some doors. Not to mention that whenever we see extremely hard physical labor going on, it's almost always E Ps doing it, implying that they're better suited to it. Lastly, we see the E Ps pulling a train. Yes, I know that it has wheels and is made for moving, but I'm pretty sure that it weighs dozens of times more than a single house did, and it's implied that they towed it an extended distance. As in, overnight. With that in mind, I can easily buy Big Mac dragging a small house for a short period of time.

I mean, from what we've seen in the show, a typical pony probably has about the amount of drag power as a car. Big Mac is probably comparable to a tractor, and a big tractor can easily pull a house off of it's foundation.

I just don't get it. You people are ok with Twi levitating an orchard and a dam. and RD using both a rain nuke and a rainboom, yet you can't let an EP have super strength

Certainly. Your average passenger train weighs upwards of 200 tonnes...the engine itself can weight that too. E Ps must have some serious pulling power.

Exactly. I'm with JTeeth - nothing at all says that the potion boosted their strength at all, which means that we've seen earth ponies drag a house, stop a bus, destroy a test-your-strength machine and knock down doors. They also do almost all of the physical labor around Ponyville.

It's a REALLY personal thing that bugs me, ok.

I know, it's just weird that you fixate on it so much when everyone else kinda forgets about it. I don't think I would have remembered that she even did that if you didn't keep bringing it up.
