Hmmm...what if he did little things that appealed to the mane six's elements?

Like he buys something from AJ...but as he trots off...realises she gave him too much change...and returns the extra bit. Stuff like that, to show he's a good guy?

Show dosn't have to show it...just they bring it up when Pinkie's complaining.

My only real misgivings about this Cranky guy is...well, the name. In this show the names tend to be pretty indicative, and when someone's name is "Cranky" I really can't imagine him being just a nice guy who prefers to keep to himself. The only way it would work is if "Cranky" is just a nickname, which means that everybody else who goes with it is kind of being a jerk. I'm guessing that he'll be more of a rough-around-the-edges kind of persona. Like he's a good guy who just doesn't suffer fools easily.

I think part of Homer's Enemy was that Grimes had a real point. He wasn't being unreasonable, the universe just hated him.

It could be said that their con was tricking someone into thinking their services were needed, but it's a loose definition of con.

The thing with Cranky is, it may be that that's how people think of him simply because he keeps to himself. Could be a good moral; sometimes people like being alone. It doesn't mean they can't make friends, sometimes they just don't like to.

Relax, Ginger. If this is a simple 'he's mean and doesn't want to make friends' message, they'll have failed both a very good moral opportunity (as keg noted) and the previous standards of quality of the show.

My only issue with that is that it paints the entire rest of the cast in a bad light. I mean, saying that somebody is cranky is one thing, making it their name is just overkill.
