Where'd all the analysis go? I miss that. Someone needs to make a Pony cladogram. Get some taxonomy up in here.

And could someone link me to the comments discussing the episode "Feeling Pinkie Keen"?

heh...I don't think that analysis can just happen on demand, only when someone raises a point of interest...and given how broad the subjects have been so far, there's not a whole lot more to go around. Although, it does occur to me...The general opinion seems to be that Equestria (Canonically, at least) is a pretty happy and suffering-free place...but around or over a quarter of the episodes so far have featured a conflict that revolved around some sort of creature or event that poses a fatal threat to a large number of ponies. That in mind...just how free of suffering is Equestria, really? Surely all of it's little villages can't have it's own little band of adventurers?

And were you referring to the Pinkie Keen comments on this site, or deviantart?

I think that is a legitimate point. It's the same sort of thing that always bothers me in comic books. The situation need to be this way otherwise you don't have a plot, but a lot of the time it doesn't make any sense. First is the implication that nobody cares or is capable of establishing an effective defense force. You'd assume that the government would take care of such a thing but we only see any sort of military when Celestia comes around for her occasional visits with her personal coterie of Honor-Guard. They don't even seem to have any police- and what raises it's own questions like do the Ponies self-police? but that's getting a little bit off the issue. Is the existence of an active militia considered to be not kid-friendly?

And on the comments, either or. I originally meant deviantArt but if there are those here I'm interested too.

So, question for anyone who's actually familiar with the franchise, as opposed to those of us (me) who just hopped on the bandwagon - how does this compare, in quality, to the other earlier series'? Because I'll never live it down if I like this and it turns out that consensus is it's not as good as the original, because there is no way I'm ever watching the original.

Original: Pretty good...by the standards of 1980s cartoons, which weren't exactly high. Science-fiction had Transformers, fantasy had My Little Pony. The show was more epic than FIM (lots of villains, ranging from silly ones like the Diamond Dogs to epic ones like Night Mare Moon), and the world was less civilized and more dangerous, but the characterization was fairly shallow.

My Little Pony Tales: Ditched the fantasy elements, and instead had anthropomorphic ponies going to school in an equivalent to modern suburbia. Not awful, from what little I've seen, but altogether forgettable.

G3: An atrocity committed against the franchise. Vapid, stupid, and insulting to the intelligence of anyone above the age of three months. Decent theme song, though.

How stupid was G3? Was it full of strawmen, or did all the girls just talk about boys and clothing? Give us a idea, at least.
A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.

This recent episode is quickly becoming my favorite one in the series. Well, aside from the debate about the Pinkie Pie thing, anyway.
But apart, all we are is just a pile of mush and some crumbly dry mess...

Initially, I couldn't help but wonder about the "hope to fly" part of the Pinky Pie swear, especially if it were ever used by, say, Rainbow.

Then I realized "Oh, right. Pinky logic. It doesn't need to make sense."

So it's officially the first day of spring around here!

I've been celebrating by listening to Winter Wrap Up on endless loop and doing homework and lamenting my pitiful existance!

Winter Wrap Up.

FOREVER.

I saw a clip of G3 somewhere. All I can glean from it is that the ponies looked horrible and one of them was a racist bitch who didn't want unicorns around.

Silly Deathanabun, I live on the west coast. It's been spring here for three months now! Well, by the standards of where I used to live, anyways.

I remember occasionally sing commercials for the G2 and G3 shows growing up, but I never saw the actual shows. I very briefly considered checking out the G3 show on the virtue of it's art style (which is to say, clean and generally consistent, unlike many of the completely freeform animations I recall from the time), But that was back when I cared about what people thought about my viewing habits. Happily enough, from what I hear, but it was the art and animation that made me check out Fi M as well.

Those babies, though, may count among the most terrifying things I've ever seen.
