@ginger: because that's still, alas, a hot topic. Saying you're against or pro will inevitably starts a Flame War of dantesque proportions. So they have to stay neutral, for their own good. Although I would applaud if they did put a pro message in it, or at least a "there's no goddamn problem with that"

Well, it's a world when you can marry a tree, a video game character or someone you met ten minutes ago, but not the person you loved for years if they're the same sex as you. Why the heck do you think I flew to space?

I personally would like to weed out anti-gay bronies (or people who "don't approve of" gay people) but doing so within the show isn't the way to go about doing it.

The same way that 60 years ago, black people didn't exist in the media at all. It's divisive because no one was asking for acceptance for it until recently (relatively speaking).

It's a sad state of affairs, but it's the way things are. The fact that women (hell a entire cast of women!) are allowed to be competent, unique leads of a show is a "well duh" to us today, but seventy? Fifty? Thiry years ago?

It would be unconciviable.
