The up-side down flying does look pretty fun, the rest, not so much. Those are some really great sketches as well.

Pegasus Pinkie makes a lot more sense thematically, especially if you make Fluttershy an Earth Pony instead. Although on the other hand, I think it's interesting to sort of have a character whose race isn't entirely suited to their personality; I think it makes Fluttershy more interesting, and with Pinkie's 4th wall powers, she doesn't really need to be able to fly. If she'd been a pegasus, they'd need to have toned down the Rule of Funny on her a bit.

Fluttershy was planned to be Posey, an Earth Pony from Gen. 1. While Pinkie Pie was planned as Surprise, a Pegasus from Gen.1.
