Well, Celestia, being awesome, concentrates a portion of the sun's output onto whatever point of Equestria that she so desires for a fraction of a second. This is more than enough to evaporate several cubic miles of rock along with whatever pony she isn't feeling kindly towards that day.

It's a play off of nuclear-pumped lasers, which are awesome.

Eh, Celestia is pretty out of character. I can't remember much else about it. I know she fumbles a speech later on. but not much else.

Oh, and another thing about Celestia's power, she's apparently capable of teleporting from Ponyville to Canterlot if her exit via teleportation in Lesson Zero is any indication.

I guess she usually rides by carriage because her guards need the exercise or something

Oh darn. So far, the only fic I've seen that showed how insanely OP Celestia can be without being OOC was Song of Sydhxlia. (I probably spelled that wrong.)

Well the Pegasi like to come along in case she needs protecting probably. But that is some long distance teleportation, presumably without the burning that Twilight gets over long distances.

BTW what was up with that scene (The Ticket Master, not Lesson Zero), I thought it would be foreshadowing something but it never got brought up.

It would take something really crazy for her to go all out with her power. She seems to prefer to leave things up to Twilight and her friends, and when a REALLY big threat (Discord) happened she still left it up to them, because the Elements of Harmony are more powerful.
