Canterlot and Manehattan ponies wear clothes because it's fancy, Wild West type ponies wear clothes for practicality, traveling ponies like Trixie and the Flim Flam brothers wear clothes to be more impressive.

Cloudsdale didn't have many clothed ponies either. Maybe in Appleloosa they have clothes out of pragmatism(keep the sand away), and everywhere else clothes are very upper-class? We see very varying degrees of clothing, after all.

I'm not disappointed, it's just Alicorns are immortal and of all the Mane Cast AJ loves her family the most. I wouldn't want her to go through the pain of watching her loved ones die one by one.

Well first thing she'll do is ban all fruits that aren't apples. And I guess I'll have to get good at cooking apples and try to get her favour so I won't be torn apart by her shambling horde.

You know we've never actually been shown any reason to believe Celestia has all that much power. She can raise the sun, yeah, but according to Hearth Warmings Eve ordinary unicorns can already do that (although presumably it would take more than one). And she lives for a very long time, or is immortal.

Has she ever shown any other powers at all?

EDIT: Oh, and AJ would last for like 3 days before she decided she couldn't stand being in charge. And all of her friends would be bugging her for handouts.

As for Luna's power, we did see her turn lots of toy spiders into real ones. That has to be high level magic.
