@Pan: Everything I replicate is replicated manually, mind. None of that tracing nonsense, I reverse-engineer how it's done and make it my own, with that unique twist of the lines that only I use!

Hello all. Anything important that I missed while I was in the grip of Morpheus' gnarled claw?

The point of the training grounds in this case is to provide something people seem to lack that keeps them from picking up the pencil: inspiration and motivation. The theme gets the mind working at the deadline presents a clear goal with the promise of being able to show off one's work (and if they're lucky, like just about anywhere on the Internet, they might get some pointers). And so what if some of it looks bad? Everyone has to start somewhere (my first June 2011 NATG entry was pretty awful) and actually doing it is the only way to get significant improvement.

I usually just tend to just draw, then think that that looks really cool and just add detail. I dump anything that looks like crap :V
Spooky.

Exactly, having a topic and a deadline sometimes does wonders for Artist's Block. Also, it's an excuse to shake off the ring rust.

BTW, the trickiest bit is remembering that ponies need to pose differently from humans because Lauren insists they need to remain as pony as possible even with Rule of Funny in effect. Also proportions will vary from humans, lol.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt. The theme for today is a rescue, right?

What'd I miss from the 80, 000th post, folks? Anything really interesting?

Condescending with AHR? Oh, how nice for you, AHR! That must make you very happy!

I'm impressed. Very nice place for practice. So many creative artist-to-bes!

I've been doing a lot less 'Pony' pony stuff lately. I'm trying to get my human anatomy down pat (Again, thanks, Mousa. Made some slight changes). But I may do more ponies later on when the big summer ATG event happens. The war theme is just a setup for that one, no?
Visit my DeviantArt! I've got blood, gore, and ponies.

Probably. Up until I started with pony art, I'd been doing schematics for a suit of powered armor.

@Mousa: Yeah, it's a bit tricky to get the image right on paper :D

Ed: I have no idea. They haven't made any mention of a summer one and this one didn't really receive much advertisement before I got underway. My guess is they're doing it by the seat of their pants.

[up][up][up]Sweet! Powered Armour is awesome. The best portrayals I've seen were in the Starship Troopers book, and Bubble Gum Crisis Tokyo 2040 anime.

Time to scour Google Image Search for reference images then. Better keep my brain cache in RAM so I can dump it without need to waste Brain Bleach in case of accidents.
