Honestly... I'm gonna have to wait and watch this episode again to really know for sure.

I don't think I will know what to think of this episode, until I see later ones. As I said, the whole thing just felt like a huge turning point for the series as a whole, and I have to see if I'm right.

It's just, kind of weird... I don't hate this episode, but I'm too weirded out by it to really know what to believe anymore.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about it; on one hand the animation was amazing, and there was a metric ton of awesome ShoutOuts and jokes, but at the same time it felt kinda underwhelming, like the basic plotline that everything else was hung on wasn't that great. Applejack took her defeat a lot harder than I would have expected her to, and the rest of the cast went to somewhat douchey lengths to drag it out of her when she obviously didn't want to talk about it. I mean, the scene of Pinkie being deliberately annoying was funny, but at the same time it's a pretty mean thing to do to somepony.

And as per usual, I feel bad that I liked the episode.

Hell, I'm starting to feel bad for liking the show period.

It isn't just him. There's a lot of reasons not to like this episode. Honestly I'm inclined to say I like it less than MMDW, really.

...what? How is a character being described as awesome and perfect and then turning out to be awesome and perfect in any way educational, let alone interesting?

Applejack needs an awesome moment to match the other main characters - but she needed character development much more so. This episode delivered that.

@Red Savant: Eeyup. I don't care if this is supposed to be a kid's show. The problem was obvious, it could have been solved in a few minutes, but nope. Everypony came down with a big case of the stupids and couldn't see beyond "oh noes AJ isn't coming home"!

This definitely wasn't one of the best episodes. I mean, it was likable, but it doesn't stand up to some of the others.

Also, is it weird that the biggest thing that upset me is that they upset Fallout: Equestria's canon by naming her Derpy?

It's clear AJ has the big weakness of writing checks she can't cash. No wonder Big Mac handles Sweet Apple Acres's finances.

@Born: Sorry, what I meant would be her being described as being awesome and amazing - and then proceeding to show that despite how awesome and amazing she is she's still getting beat. Always a Bigger Fish is a lesson that a lot of people I know could stand to learn.

She actually took those defeats pretty well, all considered. At least until RD started using an unfair advantage. If she was on an equal level...

To be fair, would you like it if your friend moved away without warning and refused to tell you WHY? Their friendship with Applejack was at stake, they would have lost her if they did nothing and they couldn't fix the problem unless they knew what the problem was.

I'm with 1142. Applejack may not have gotten to do anything particularly awesome, but I think showing her having a crisis of faith was pretty cool, too, and it was some good exposure for her character.

I have to go to work now - I know saying this won't do any good, but for the love of god, let's not have a blowup, okay? Please?

I know, I'm actually kinda glad that they rounded AJ out a little bit. It's a nice contrast with the way that Rainbow Dash handled defeat. You'd think she'd have at least sent a letter back or something explaining that she'd be a few days late.
