Part of the problem, and maybe I'm just over-thinking the issue at hand, is that the art suggests that this is the artist's ideal of personal interaction. Having another person hopelessly dependent on your actions.

Again, this only really applies to my perceptions and for a number of reasons I'd rather not get into at the moment, I've been left a neurotic mess so feel free to ignore me.

While real world ponies may have fur, I just prefer to think of/see these ponies without fur. It just fits better, imo.
