The way I see it is that the ponies are mammals. Mammals with bits and urges. I don't see anything wrong in acknowledging that they might consider giving into these urges and getting with each other. I think it would be a little insulting to their fairly high maturity level to treat them like a bunch of sheltered kids who will be corrupted by the very concept of sex. That said, I also prefer to respect their privacy. Jokes aside, getting too explicit is something akin to kicking open their door while they're doing the deed and then wondering why everyone's giving the WTF face.
