I don't even particularly like chubby girls, but I prefer chubby Pinkie to the skinny variety. Gives some more variance to the character designs, and I think out the mane cast, she's the most likely to get that way, given that she probably eats junk food all day.

I saw her as the motherly type. (reflective of her relationship with animals) Wide hips, big chest. Stuff like that.
