This thread? Heated?

Well Ginger catches fire occasioanlly.

That's about the extent of it. Beyond that we're all usually quite calm. I wonder though, AHR, why exactly you would want the thread to get heated? Ilike the more elaxed nature of our debates.

I don't. I just wish this was the definition of heated. I'd be a lot happier as a person.

Because of Pinkie episode?

Just keep calm, Ginger. the episode is written by Meghan Mc Carthy. you liked party of one Pinkie, right?

When saturday comes around just make youself a nice cup of tea, cozy up in front of the computer monitor, and just relax. It'll all be good. Let the magic of ponies flow through you. Let go of the hate.

@red savant, I do care about the topic but due to its loose relevance I interpreted it as an attempt to weaseling out of a proper arguement about the merits off his favorite character with a distraction.

I am looking foreward to this weekend's episode. Pinkie's really grown on me over time.

If it's the same writer as Party Of One...I think we're in for a treat!

I'm ambivalent on Pinkie but, look forward to the episode nonetheless. Mainly because of the writer.

Wow, only 1 page since I got back. It must be a miracle.

@Rhyme Beat: My suggestion is that you stop drawing from bases. They are a crutch, and if you rely too much on such things it stunts you as an artist. I suggest drawing from life whenever possible. Before you draw each line, consider what you are drawing would look like in reality. Yeah, I know ponies are cartoons, but when you think of things in a three dimensional way it improves your art no matter what you're drawing. And in case you think I'm full of crap, Lauren Faust has said the exact same thing: Faq, second question.

Pinkie Pie and Rarity are my faviroet ponies so I have been enjoying tihs season by far.

Ya. The only place I've seen bases as supposedly ok is in the Homestuck fandom, and even that is questionable.

If McCarthy is indeed the writer for this weekend's episode, it can go one of two ways.

  • Pinkie goes Party of One/Lesson Zero insane OR
  • it will be a lot like Sweet and Elite.

All three of those episodes are awesome, but I do have my concerns.

I'm more afraid of the fandom's reaction.

One of my problem's with Pinkie is her SICKENINGLY high popularity and this fandom's habit of idolizing EVVERYTHING that she does. What if this becomes the most popular episode ever AND gives Pinkie character development? I don't think I could take it.

Let fans be fans. If you get mad at them for that, it will just turn out badly.

Do people usually consider that a good episode? I thought it was average (note: average does not mean BAD).

Also I liked Feeling Pinkie Keen, which I gather is considered some kind of awful stain on the show's record or something.

I think for many people it was VERY unexpected, so in that sense, they liked it.

@Bluespade, that was the same advice some of us have given before but Rhyme beat kind of has to use bases on account of using a mouse instead of pencil and parchment.

I am confused ginger....your opinion of the episode hinges on what others think of it? That dosen't seem to healthy....

Wait, but... if it gives Pinkie development, then what's the problem?

Yes ginger, we know you don't approve of the sheer mass of people loving her. But those are other peoples opinions. I hate the constant flood of memes from the fandom, but I let other people enjoy them without taking it personally.

And if Pinkie gets true development, she'll have a reason to be as popular as she is. Isn't that a good thing?

@Blue: I did really enjoy it, but what I like the most about it is that it's one of the few episode that treats Pinkie as a real, genuine character, and not as a joke. That's so rare that it's almost sort of beautiful to me. I love seeing her be a character with faults and flaws, so I simply appreciate the episode for focusing on her faults and flaws.

Oh sure, she still needs to be shown to be in the wrong once and a while, but hey, baby steps.
