You know...I'm not even sure all of Granny's antics are really necessary for the Zap-Apples. I kinda got the feeling it was some sort of "grandma recipe", that seemed to make the Zap Apple trees more productive.

Like one of those anti-hiccup trick that sorta work some of the time.

She did say they were just things the zap apple trees liked. They presumably grew in the forest without all that nonsense, so it's probably just to make them that tiny bit more productive. Connection to the earth. EP's know that shit.

Alternatively, she's doing her best to mimic things that actually would happen within the forest, but couldn't outside of it.

@Dhana Y'know? Granny Smith has had about... 100 years of trial and error to get the method down right. I think everything she does has some kind of purpose (at least as far as the apples are concerned)

I get the feeling that even without yelling at the jars or painting dots on the walls, you could still produce passable Zap-Apple jam, but everytime Granny did her passive EP powers would just start screaming at her that something wasn't right.

Her wakiness isn't vital for the Zap-Apple's EXISTENCE, it's vital for OPTIMIZING them. That's what I think anyway

Well, I'm already liking this episode so far. I agree with JTeeth on the bunny costumes, but almost everything Granny Smith has done so far is pretty funny.

Also, Mr. Filthy lives up to his name. Equestria doesn't need wholesale chain stores.

Hm... well, that certainly does a number on my fanon regarding the Apple clan and how long they've been around. (Ponyville, too, for that matter.) It makes it more understandable that the Canterlot set were willing to write off Ponyville as a hick town, though it's certainly not anymore.

It might just be me, but I never considered the Everfree forest to be all that EVIL. I don't even think it's corrupted. With the exception of the Hydra, every creature we've seen from there can be reasoned with (or is otherwise not all that malevolent)
