Can you confirm that Dave not work for this show anymore?

I remember I saw news sujesting that he is one of the writers who stayed in crew for s3.

Also, he's just a really pleasant guy. I can't fault his enthusiasm. He's the sort of guy I'd wanna hang around with. He's excitable, sensitive, reasonable, eager.

So I was reading a list of goatspawn and similar characters in fiction and stumbled upon someone known as Tirek who was a half-goat half man sorcerer that commanded legions of dragons to do his bidding in the old MLP show.

I was wondering, has this guy made an appearance in the new show?

In NM case, it was probably shock that keep her from attacking ("wait, THOSE PONIES ARE THE ELEMENTS ?!"), and discord thought it wouldn't work. Plus, good ol' Talking Is a Free Action stuff.

Well...Nothing I guess. But fiction do have a tendency to make power-ups very long (I'm looking at you, Super-Saiyajins !), so you can think it's a meta thing and the Elements charges MUCH faster than that.

I can imagine some smug villain countering the EOH by reflecting the attack back at the bearers... which would only make them stronger

Either that or the elements create a shield while they power up.

Maybe it's cause I've been reading to much of the Foil!Six stuff, maybe it's all the power rangers I've been binging on of late (yes I liked that show and still do a bit for it's hamminess. Sue me!) but I think the best possible villian would a band of Psycho Rangers that are Dark Conterparts to the mane six right down to having elements of Dis-Harmony that conter each of the Mane Six's elements. And they would have to be male of course. >.>

Oh God please make this happen, with all of them turning into alicorns for a few minutes, just in time to kick that guy's ass.

Edit: Wait...what if the Elements of Disharmony had no number six (magic), and really disliked each other? They have to be used individualy against their good counterpart rather than together?

Actually, I think a more fitting counter to the elements would be the seven deadly sins (minus Lust) and instead of directly opposing the elements (like what Discord did to them), they would corrupt and twist them.

EVERY time I see a villain team up, the good guys always defeat them by taking advantage of their lack of of teamwork (turning them against each other.)

Just once , I'd like to see a team of villains who DON'T all turn on each other.

No, what I'd like to see is a villain which the elements don't work on. Not because they're not strong enough, but because the villain himself isn't completely evil. There's nothing to purify, since he ultimately has pure intentions

That might be a little grey for a series as idealstic as this one (where the is clearly outlined good and evil, bad and good, etc.)

I think this show has the potential for White and Grey Morality. Isn't that trope supposed to be all but RESERVED for idealistic shows?

I would swap Applejack and Rainbow Dash there, as I think of it as more as emphasizing an already existing character flaw to drown out their element rather than directly countering it. Rainbow Dash can be pretty lazy about things, where it would be completely out of character of Applejack to forgo doing any work. I can see Applejack being envious of her friends skills though. She showed some resentment of Rainbow Dash's wings giving her an edge in "Fall Weather Friends", for example.

Rarity is probably the exception to the whole "not directly countering the element" idea, as she's shown herself to be perfectly capable of being greedy and generous at the same time, and is probably the most paradoxical character out of the group.
