I have to agree with Mio, actually - all of the subtlety in her personality is subjugated under Canterlock. It's a bit annoying.

I haven't read any post-Luna Eclipsed fanficiion about her so I can't say much on the subject.

More characters = more dolls to sell.

I've had to write her in The Colour You Bleed - I write her being fairly confidant and a bit wry with others, but serious when she has something important to say, and on the whole not actually very personable. I actually took her as probably not liking the new political scene very much. My theory was that when she went to Ponyville she went to make friends, not to be lauded or worshiped, and she doesn't really care for being adulated by 2-bit aristocrats. So she enjoys talking to ponies as long as they treat her like just another pony, much like her sister in that respect.

I also dropped the Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe, though I kept a bit of a more traditional speech structure - I figured she reserved the fancy talk and royal We for her subjects, and stuck to more simple speech when she was with somepony she was comfortable with.

Do any other writers take that approach, or really give her character as much thought as I tend to? Couldn't say, I don't really read fanfiction. But I can at least say there are some outliers of the fandom who want her to have a real, deep personality.

My interpretation of her even before Luna Eclipsed is actually pretty similar to what it ended up being. As I said, all I had to change is that now I consider her a bit more trigger happy and defensive when it comes to her sister

Vinyl/Octavia is really the only shipping couple that I can see in a real, non-jokey sense.

Eh... I can never really see Vinyl/Octavia. I know everyone likes it, but... I just ship Vinyl with Ziggy Stardust. I'm weird like that. I also never really cared much about Octavia.

Well, they're the only two ponies around of their age (at least as far as we've seen). You know what though? I sort of like Celestia/Discord.

As for me, I love Octavia. Her fandom personality is probably who I identify most with outside of Fallout Equestria(!) Trixie.

Celestia/Discord creeps me out almost as much as Celestia/Twilight.

It's interesting how the characters with no speaking lines have (apparently) the most plausible ships. Meh, the chart is pretty old though. Someone should update it.

I'm following two Vinyl/Tavi fics right now, and the only Lyra/Bon Bon fics I've read were short and trite. Although, the Anthropology one that came out recently is looking a little promising.

Well... they're immortal gods, and they're both girls. It's not like the usual factors that make incest a no-no would necessarily apply to them
