AOS: Sure, they can handle both, but if you try to print it, that RGB color you liked so much might not be available. This has happened to me before.

The only thing I find particularly silly about those is how big they are. If they were smaller they wouldn't even look all that gaudy.
Camo pattern with flowers and a ribbon in it? Only use I can think of for it is for hiding in flower gardens.
I have to admit, "Friendship is Witchcraft" made me more aware of Rarity's big hats, starting with the one she put on Rainbow Dash.
That is the way of the arteest, senior Ginger, may the pretension and high class critique invade for all eternity. Never shall we live in a world of poor taste! QUALITY PREVAIL! QUALITY PREVAIL! ART UBER ALLE, SEIG HEIL!
I analyze "Geek Culture" here.
When All Else Fails, worry, that's the 14 way.
"Gaudy" is a fine word, as long as you apply to stuff that actually is gaudy. Stuff like Rarity's hats don't seem to gaudy to me. Fancy maybe, but they're not over the top or bedazzled enough to fall into gaudy territory.
I prefer a subtle kind of style, but GLORIOUS fanciness is fine too.
I don't mind Gaudy if it's being used in a POSITIVE manner, but I hate it when people use it as an insult. Unless I actually think it IS gaudy (and I have very, very low standards)

...that seems a bit double standardish of you. It's only ok when you agree with it?

I was thinking that some kind of bizarro Rarity might be OUTRAGEOUS instead.
So bizarro Rarity is Pony Gaga?
Well, subtlety is indeed the opposite of gaudiness, so I don't think anyone is entirely wrong if they judge Rarity's clothing to be such a thing.
