Something I noticed... Lyra plays a minor role in the play. She shows up in the summit, wears the same outfit as Twilight's Clover costume, and opens the door for Rarity/Platinum. Her magic aura is gold...like Celestia.

Also, some time ago, I pointed out that pegasi are the Proud Warrior Race, unicorns the Proud Scholar Race, and earth ponies the Proud Merchant Race. I'd say the first is pretty much confirmed, and the other two strongly hinted at.

Last year, "Call of the Cutie" aired on January 7 and "Fall Weather Friends" didn't air until the 28th.

I think that will also be the case with this season. I wonder what the reasoning behind THAT delay was though.

If anyone thinks that three weeks of no episode is bad, they should talk to the Young Justice fandom.

Great episode. Still missing somethign (like more song or royal sisters). Now I wait for 720p version to load.

I love backstory, those 6 leaders were awesome and hilarious (epecially PP as Chancelor Puddinghead), and those demonic horses, another cool and creepy add to MLPFIM monster manual.

Now I wonder if there were flashbacks in this ep or play had gread special efects.

All we saw it was play, acual events involved more ponies and there was war over that new land.

Technically, the E Ps weren't being merchants. If anything they were being the OPPOSITE of merchants

My newest WMG:

The Princesses came into being from ponykind's belief in them.

"Hearth's Warming Eve" shows the ponies of the newly founded Equestria putting up a flag depicting Celestia and Luna, even though the events described took place long before their reign. The Princesses - being a combination of unicorns, pegasi and earth ponies - were originally merely a symbol for the unity of the three pony races. As time went on, ponies formed a mythology around them and began to worship their image as deities. Eventually, the Princesses became Physical Gods due to the principle of Clap Your Hands If You Believe, saved Equestria from Discord and became its rulers.

fun fact: Merryweather Williams, aka the person behing MMDW (THE most hated episode of S2 period and one of the most hated episodes generally, getting herself a lot of flak) also wrote this episode.

I think that's an excellent redemption as far as characterization goes, but I am still feeling like she doesn't quite like Dashie. Pinkie, however, got the best characterization ever.

The Windigos are the heralds of Discord. (like the Silver Surfer is the herald of Galactus) They enter a land before Discord does and they test to see how interesting its inhabitants are. If everyone gets frozen then The Windigos will have spared an entire country from the awful crap that Discord would've put them through (and saved them from themselves in all likelihood, since a lot of hatred must have existed in their country for them to get to the point where they couldn't repel the Windigos). Conversely, If a country fights back and overcomes the Windigos, then that country will have proven itself interesting enough to be worthy Discord's time.

That's why we hear that Windigo at the end of this ep. A few of them (severely weakened, mind) still exist, and refuse to leave out of loyalty to their imprisoned master Discord

I do really like her method of writing Pinkie I must admit. I still only think her scenes work because of Smart Cookie though

I really prefer to think of them as separate entities unrelated to each other.

(Surprised nopony elso brought this up) The Windigo howl at the end was Celestia/Luna trolling the Mane6/teaching them a lesson. (I really thought she would appear at the end showing it was her when watching it)
