It looks like they'll be doing the "Play becomes real" thing. You know, where we actually see the story they're supposed to be performing, except all the mane characters are being played by the mane cast.

Is there a trope for that?

No. It's not just limited to plays either.

Say a character starts telling the story of King Arthur, it would then cut to a flashback of the story he's telling, only he and his friends are playing the roles of the mane characters

The closest thing to it would probably be Deep Immersion Gaming, but with a play instead. I don't think there's a trope for that in this website.

For the point about how there's EP singing with pegasi, but the two unicorns together - maybe it's simply two groups of one each? Either way, I'm super excited!

Cool, they're reusing the hall from Return of Harmony. Nice to see the continuity there, and the cast holding this at the castle increases the odds of a Luna appearance.

Also, I like the costumes for that first screenshot. So, it looks like the Pegasi were warlike, and the unicorns were "ohohoho, we have a castle and you don't"-style royalty.

By the looks of things I'd say that 3 members of the mane cast are going to be playing royalty, and the other 3 are going to be playing servants or underlings of some kind. Judging by the second pic:

Royalty:

AJ
Fluttershy
Rarity

Underlings:

Pinkie (Farmer)
RD (Guard or Soldier)
Twilight (Court mage or something?)

Could be wrong, I'm just hypothesizing
