^^He took her because he wants to possess her. While Spike himself would probably never consider having a crush on her wanting to own her, Hulkspike has no such qualms - Hulkspike works on the simplistic, animal core of Spike's feelings for Rarity with none of the care that Spike has for her as a person.

@Ginger: I can't imagine why else. Otherwise he would have just grabbed some random pony rather than going for her. Red Savant basically summed up the rest of it.

@Badwolf: I think it just looks weird because it's midflap; there are lots of motions that look perfectly normal in motion but look incredibly weird when paused at the right moment.

I'm just going to note that I can't remember any proof that Rarity was aware of Spike's crush before this episode, and there's no indication that she's willingly "using" him unless you delve into some serious Alternate Character Interpretation.

I agree with you. I love Rarity for being such a nice girl despite the fact that most chracters like her are Alpha Bitch. iT's very likely she just noticed while they were falling.
