Can I ask a question from a while back?
Why is everyone saying gems can be 'grown'? Is it Spike's aging comment? Because that makes no sense. Gems don't grow - and as far as I know, aging a certain piece of food has never implied growth. (Except with cheese.)

I never said that was herless jerk (he was even more sympatetic that Gilda to me). I only opesed turning him into victim and making Mane Cast guilty party.
They are like the others. Strange, hideous, resisting, fighting. Only these were not like the others. They did not die.
But gems maybe can grow in MLPFIM world.

Oh, maybe I could dig up my gem forge idea again!
I made 50,000th post.

@Ginger: Come to think of it... Gems might ripen. Different gems are formed a lot differently, I think, so the rocess of creating them might be different. For example an 'unripe' diamond might have some traces of coal left in it.
My guess is that he's feeling whether the
crystal is vibrating with the tuning fork.
Heh, tuning fork. Almost sounds like silverware.

My point being, Wil, gems that have already been mined don't continue to become more gemmish. =)
Tuning forks are designed to vibrate at specific pitches, Ginger. You smack one against a table or something and listen to the sound it makes, and then you can tune an instrument against that pitch.

For no apparent reason, I suddenly want a tuning fork.

Basically, a tuning fork is used for a musician (mainly a singer) to find the pitch. Your standard tuning fork is tuned to 440 Hrz, which is an A4. From there, the singer finds the starting pitch for whatever they're singing.
