[up][up][up][up][up][up]Who knows. Maybe he is not the one who learns the moral for the episode.

Also the synopsis states that he is the one who has to come up with the solution to his problem. Not sure how (or if) he is going to do that.

I'm not too fond of the "growing gigantic from greed, and going Godzilla" plot that it may have, but this is Fi M, where there are great characters that carry any episode with ease.

There's a road sign across the street from me that says "CHILDREN." Someone took a marker to this sign, and turned it into "KENTUCKY FRIED CHILDREN, 1 MILE."

Am I a terrible person for laughing at this?

[up][up]No.

I LOVE Spike. I adore his innocence and I would totally get a plushie if I could find one (...I'm a male, too.) That's why I'm apprehensive on the fact that dragons in Equestria have a "greed instinct". Seems a bit too artificial to me.

@kyun But it would fit with what we've seen of the dragons so far. Both of them have been gem hoarders who were violently protective of their property.

Plus, If Spike could somehow overcome these instincts, then he'll have proven himself a stronger person waii

[up] Saddest story.

Don't western dragons have greed instincts in everything they've ever been in?

It also makes me wonder if he'll actually be getting OLDER, or if he'll just be getting FATTER.

Is this gonna end like that one episode of Ed Edd And Eddy where Ed starts eating everything in his sleep and they resolve the issue by trapping him in a window then selling all the stuff inside his stomach? (by reaching down his throat and grabbing it)

The hoard aspect seems to be pretty traditional, but the reasons are varied. Some of them are instinctive, some greedy, some of them just like shiny stuff. Some of them are just protecting somebody else's treasure as a favour.

[up] They told fanfiction writers to come here to learn more about tropes and how to use them. They also warned them that Tv Tropes Will Ruin Your Life.

Well, by "instinctively greedy" it sounds like hoarding is just some thing dragons do.

And it makes sense. In this show, dragons eat precious gems and (presumably) metals. Having an instinct to hoard these (imperishable) foodstuffs makes a lot of sense when you live extremely long and are huge. After all, the older dragons are huge, and that means they have huge guts, which need to be filled with a lot of treasure.

It's more of a justified hoard than some other works. Best explanation since "I lie on the treasure to protect my underbelly"

On a completely different, yet still dragon-related note: I don't want to open the discussion, since I think we've all had enough of it, but I just want to say that Basil being a Draco in Leather Pants is hilarious to me, just because of the trope's name.
