Wait! What do the EARTH PONIES do in that story?

Basically, I rewatched "The Cutie Mark Chronicles" and noticed a couple similarities, then I filled in the rest of the gaps

EDIT: The only time any of the three types plays more of a role than another is when the unicorns use their magic to build Canterlot, then invite the Earth and Pegasus ponies to the first Gala.

Telekinesis must make construction so ridiculously convenient. And if the founding unicorns were anywhere as precise as Twi and Rarity, I bet they'd be building faster than they could acquire materials.

Seriously, what's the point in them being stronger than the other races? It serves no practical purpose since unicorns can just emulate it with Telekinesis anyway

IIRC, Twilight's the only one who's been shown to have powerful telekinesis. What's the best Rarity's done? Make dress horses float around?

It takes serious effort to lift large or heavy objects with Telekinesis. Earth Ponies can put whole buildings together much faster than a team of skilled TK Unicorns.

So far, only Twilight has shown the ability to lift very heavy objects with her magic. Other unicorns seem to be only able to summon the power to lift light loads. Hell, look at the one who couldn't even open a jar.

I think, and this is pure fanon, that a Unicorn can 'lift' as many objects as they can magically concentrate upon...but what objects they can lift is determined by their 'magical' strength.

So, a Unicorn could lift a dozen or so heavy shopping bags (which they would be unable to carry by physical strength) because they can concentrate on each bag and each bag does not exceed their magical strength limit, but that same unicorn might not be able to lift one really heavy box load. And if the weight of any of those bags increased beyond their limit, they would 'drop' them.

E Ps by comparsion, are better at transporting singular heavy loads. A EP might be unable to lift all those heavy shopping bags at once, but would be able to lift the box.

So...a Unicorn would make a good waiter or shop assistant, magically carrying lots of little light objects around at once, whilst an EP would make a good devilery pony, carting single heavy loads around on their backs.

In "Mare Do Well", the building that was being constructed in Ponyville was being built entirely by earth ponies.

Yes, Twilight has really powerful telekinesis, but it's on the level of overkill in most situations. Surely a pony with even 1/10 her ability could hold a beam or two steady while another fastens (or possibly even do both at the same time). Although I guess that does make for a good argument for Earth Ponies being needed to actually haul in the materials.

And Art of the Dress made Rarity seem fairly adept. She's levitating a whirlwind of stuff during the end of the song. Altogether, the weight must still be substantial (I'd imagine the dress horses are at least a little weighty, since they need to be able to hold potential heavy ensembles) and if nothing else, she shows a very high level of precision by manipulating that many objects at once.

^That makes sense. There's a concentration factor in telekinesis that an earth pony wouldn't have to deal with.

Actually, if we go by my theory, Pegasi are Awesome but Impractical, lacking the strength of E Ps or the magic abilties of Unicorns, a Pegasi would be hard pressed to lift either the bags or the box.

I dunno, Dashie seems to be pretty strong (carrying four ponies while flying, anyone?) and even Fluttershy is stronger than she first appears (balloon chase). Plus flight is a huge mobility advantage over the others. Plus pegasi can keep the sky clear to make ideal conditions for the construction.

Castle Creator got updated again, this time on Hasbro's website. Hasbro's version adds Scootaloo & Apple Bloom and fixes the glitch that prevents The Hub's version from displaying Rarity's Royal Gem Carriage. Besides unused Luna, all of the game's files from The Hub's website are here too...including MLP_CharH_Derpy.swf.

Also, cartoon super strength at play. She can carry 4 ponies...AJ can haul lots of apple carts...train puller ponies can pull a 250 odd ton passenger train.

But you're right about the weather bit...ponies are all about working together. In 40k list building, we call that synergy.

What kind of ponies were working the construction site in Mare Do Well? I thought it was earth ponies.

True, I concede that pegasi probably couldn't pull trains very easily, but at least for the construction example, they'd probably still be able to contribute fairly handily. Fluttershy is constantly cited as "weak" and she can haul a balloon with two ponies in it pretty quickly. While that's no 250 ton train, in the very least, pegasi could haul smaller packages without regard for terrain (such as with the flying truck in Pinkie Keen, which could hold, among other things, an anvil and a grand piano).

^My guess is that unicorns are physically the weakest of all of them. Aside from Twilight winning 'The Elements of Harmony' away from her friends, we've never seen a unicorn do anything that physically impressive that I can recall.

The way I see it, pegasi are maxed in so-called 'agile athletics' - they're like runners, swimmers and other people who are incredibly athletic but still thin, and they can pull off amazing feats of agility and speed, but not so much heavy lifting. Earth ponies are 'strong athletics' - like bodybuilders and, yes, farmers. Their strength is visible and ridiculous compared to the other races. Unicorns, meanwhile, have their telekinesis and can manipulate objects in ways that earth ponies and pegasi never could, but they're physically smaller and weaker than both other races.
