I might hold off on my sad-fic for a while in favor of doing "Survivor All-Stars: Equestria." I wonder if I should ponify the contestants or have it be humans shooting a show amongst the Equestrian craziness.

I don't think I'd want to see ponies doing all the conniving and back-stabbery that seems to go on in reality shows, personally...

No, they defy conventions and stay friendly. All the Tribal Councils are done by drawing lots.

Well, it would be actual Survivor former contestants transported through some convoluted means. The actual ponies would be background characters, seen during special challenges, rewards, Ponderosa, behind-the-scenes stuff... things like that.

Aww, I wanna write a pony story now...

inb4 Pinkie wins in ten seconds flat

So I'm trying to convince a friend to give MLP Fi M a fair chance and I need some second opinions on an episode list because I'm probably only going to get one shot at this. There, are, however some complications:

• She's a member of Something Awful and I'm afraid the fiasco over there has coloured her opinion for the worse... I'm expecting to get no more than two episodes
• She mentioned starting the first episode but closing it prematurely (I did exactly the same thing, but I know our tastes are quite similar and look where giving it a second chance got me), so the pilot episodes are pretty much out
• She likes musicals

First episode: I'm thinking this needs to be something of a character intro episode since she didn't even get far enough to be introduced to all of the main 6. I'm debating Ticket Master (a bit unsure on this one), Applebuck Season or Dragonshy (admittedly trading a bit of character oomph for the more epic journey).

Second episode: Winter Wrap Up (musical) or Sonic Rainboom. I did briefly consider a Suited For Success with Winter Wrap Up being pushed over to slot 1, but I think an episode focusing on fashion might do more harm than the good Stitch by Stitch would.

You said she likes musicals - does she like Sondheim?

Since the show is part of the My Little Pony banner, and that main page has 300+ wicks, that's enough for it to qualify.

I'm not really sure. She hasn't ever mentioned him, but I don't know how much I can take away from that. Consider her opinion neutral for the time being.

What's the Something Awful fiasco?

@Kuroi - for a character introduction episode, I suggest episode nine: Bridle Gossip. All of the main cast, as well as Applebloom, demonstrate their personalities when they react to the "threat" of Zecora.

There is a song as well - Pinkie Pie's "Evil Enchantress". It's not a grand number like "Winter Wrap Up", but gives a taste of the awesome songwriting in the series.

And this episode is just really funny.

This is all second hand (I'm not a member of SA, myself), but according to the YMMV section of the MLP Fi M trope page:

"Additionally, it's been an uphill climb for people spreading the news about how the show is much Better Than It Sounds. The information was preconfirmed by my friend when she offhandedly mentioned it before I got into the series and indicated that she supported the mods' position. I really had no idea what was going on at the time, but after finding what I quoted above, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Hmmm, those are some pretty good points. Being a 2 in 1 deal might just place it above my other slot 1 contenders.
