So, I noticed that, in the most recent episode, a lot of the male members of the Canterlot elite had yellow magic. I wonder what it means that their magic has a color close to Celestia's.

What I meant, Jteeth, is that Ice Hockey is just called Hockey. When it's on a field it's field Hockey, when it's on ice it's just Hockey. The original keeps it's name, and the variants get the modifiers. I probably could have been more clear about that.

My favourite was the Unicorn Guard's magic, which was bright green!

Overall, I very much like this switch to individually-colored magic. It's a nice sort of variation.

I highly doubt it. Sparkler has the same colour magic as Twilight, and Sparkler couldn't even open a jar of Peanut Butter with her Telekinesis

so it's not a sign of power at the very least

More like she couldn't get rid of a posturing Rainbow Dash any other way.

But anyway, I've noticed that the Canterlot Elite is almost entirely unicorns. There are a handful of Earth Ponies scattered throughout it, and I saw all of one pegasus in the entire episode that wasn't a main character. I wonder how that worked out.

@Enlong Perhaps Canterlot is the Unicorn capitol of Equestria? Just like Cloudsdale is for Pegasi and Manehatten is for E Ps.

Does Cloudsdale move around in the sky? Or is it anchored to one location somehow?

I think it would have been funny if Sparkler had discretely used a disinfectant wipe on the jar lid after RD tried to open it with her teeth.

Who knows? Presumably, it could move if they wanted to and were really careful not to shear buildings apart by moving only a few clouds.

Not always. For one thing, Celestia and Luna's colors correspond to the color of the sun and the night sky. Also, a lot of the Canterlot elite have a duller yellow, if male, or a soft pink, if female, whatever their coat color is.
