Rarity is more ladylike than most of the actual nobleponies in Canterlot. I picture her in a kind of reverse-Vimes situation where she ends up with a Canterlot noblepony who doesn't behave like the usual snobs, but is instead a thoroughly decent guy who isn't scared to get mud all over his hooves to help out.

Is there a reason we're trying to Crystal Dragon Jesus the Princesses? Because I would really rather not, the same way I wouldn't expect you all to sit back and nod along while I explain how Celestia and Luna are kami.

^That would be pretty entertaining, actually. Anything linking Discworld to Equestria (which may very well be another disc itself) is good in my book.

@red: That's what I figured already.

I figure that a pony with sufficient power and experience can be turned into an Alicorn with some kind of ascension/maturation. I'm thinking something like To Aru Kagaku No Railgun where if you develop your powers enough to surpass Level Five, you can basically do impossibly godlike things.

Wow, yes, indeed, great idea. Also like the idea someone posited that the "Lauren Faust" alicorn is the Creator or something like that. Come to think of her, does the fandom have a name for her? Would be really weird if not ^^.

^^Dangerous Business mentions a few of them - the kudu of the Great Plains don't really have a leader on the same scale as Celestia and Luna, in that they don't affect the entire world, but the strongest wielder of their innate fire magic is made the Fireshaman, and on coronation they light square miles of plains ablaze with their power.

I still prefer to believe that Luna and Celestia are part of a race of Alicorns. I dunno, I guess I just like the idea that those two are actually pretty weak compared to their peers

. Alicorns are indeed still quite a mystery! I WOULD say "I hope the AWESOMEWORLDBUILDING second next episode will shine light on that", but I think I'm really getting way too many hopes up for that one. I want it to give a Tolkienesque backstory on EVERYTHING AND tell a funny Mane 6 story within 20 minutes ^^.

The results of the 'TV Tropes best pony' vote. FYI, Applejack came in third, tied with Rarity. Out of the Mane 6, Pinkie Pie came in dead last. you must be sort of pleased.

I think it's only two pages back, so you can read it yourself.
