Alrighty, let's get this this done. In total, 24 people voted. Only the mane 6 managed to get a significant amount of votes, so I might as well just list those in order, with a possible explanation for the result by me. A vote for first place is worth 5 points, second 4, and third 3. the pony with the most points wins.

  • #6 Pinkie Pie. 4 votes third, 1 vote second, 0 votes first, 16 points in total. While people seem to enjoy her random antics, her personality lacks impact. Since this is a character-driven show, she doesn't show up particularly often on any top three lists.
  • #5 Rainbow Dash. 5 votes third, 1 vote second, 1 vote first, 24 points in total. While her egocentricity might rub people the wrong way, at least she has an actual personality.
  • #4/3 Applejack. 3 votes third, 7 votes second, 1 vote first, 42 points. Gets funny lines and is generally likeable, but her down-to-earth personality doesn't leave much room for development. Some more exposure would probably have upped her rank.
  • #4/3 Rarity. 3 votes third, 2 votes second, 5 votes first, 42 points. While most tropers won't be able to identify with her fashionita lifestyle, she always gets the best episodes. Also, deliciously hammy.
  • #2 Fluttershy. 1 vote third, 7 votes second, 3 votes first, 46 points. Her introverted nature probably resonates well with most of this site's visitors, and she's just so gaddang adorable.
  • #1 Twilight Sparkle. 4 votes third, 4 votes second, 10 votes first, 78 points in total, taking the title by a landslide. Hardly surprising, as she's the series main character, so she gets a lot of exposure. And she's also a nerd. Like most people here.

Special mention: Great and Powerful Trixie. 0 votes third, 1 vote second, 2 votes first, 14 points in total. People really do love their ham around here.

Calvin: I kind of resent the manufacturer's implicit assumption that this would amuse me.

Fluttershy won't play any mons games where she has to send her critters into fights. What if they got hurt?!

Mousa: I'm not offended so much as it's such an old joke that it's just plain lazy to use it at this point. Surely they could have come up with something better.

Kayeka: You could have done it as a point system. First is worth 3, second is worth 2, third is worth 1 and then tallied and highest total wins. Or if everyone's uncomfortable with first being with 3 times the points, it could be scaled up to something like say 7/6/5 (just throwing arbitrary numbers out there).

Plus, it just gets a little wearing to hear people make absolutely arbitrary distinctions between the "coolness" of hobbies that are, in the end, all equally useless.

[up][up]Yeah, you go do that. I had to read 70 pages of brony discussion, so I don't really feel like doing math right now.

Referring to each of the mane six's video game preferences, try out Elements of Gaming. Pretty good fanfic and I think it gives some pretty good insight into each of their personalities.

Well, Twilight ended up winning in a landslide either way. Just a sec, I'll cook something up with the point system.

Where exactly does this misunderstanding that "bronie" is a singular term originate from? I've seen it in multiple news sources.
Maybe it's because Hasbro made that mistake at least once (check the description).

I gave it a look. It didn't seem that the program allowed for 'top three' questions. Besides, I got no google account. Lastly, the way you phrased your suggestion made me inclined to ignore it altogether.

Okay, with first place as 3 points, second as 2, and third as 1, the totals are as follows:

  1. Twilight: 42
  2. Fluttershy: 24
  3. Rarity: 22
  4. Applejack: 20
  5. Rainbow Dash: 10
  6. Trixie: 8
  7. Pinkie Pie: 6

Cue "Twilight is the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything" jokes.

@Thefran, He gets better later and the characterizations are pretty funny but I understand it's not for everyone. I still call episode ten his best one.

Bleh, did it anyway, being the obsessed nerd that I am. I gave 5 points for #1 votes, 4 for #2, and 3 for #3. I find the fact that someone mentioned a character at all on their list to be slightly more important then their position on the list.

This way, my list remains largely unchanged, except that Rarity and Fluttershy tie at 42 points. Wow, the random number god sure likes 42.

Editing the post with the results.

Hmmm...not really impressed with that Cracked article if I'm honest.

That geeks are weird and can't get dates bollocks is so worn out. This show helped me become friends with a circle of very attractive young ladies for example.

Though, if I'm honest, some of the things we discuss around here might feed fuel to the fire. So, I'm going to tone it down a bit.
I ship Pinkie & Mac...trust me...I know what I'm doing.

Tealove is best pony.

It doesn't help that the society actively hates smart people and wants to get rid of them by shoving people into stereotypes and then mocking said stereotypes.

If you are a smart kid in a school, you will be hated and alienated, thus ensuring your social disability later on.

If you grow up a nerd, two things will happen: "omg nerd get a life like us, superior human beings and huge jersey shore fans" and "you have touched a game controller, which means you shouldn't be allowed to touch a boob".

Applejack, Rarity and Fluttershy sure are close, by any standard. Well, good to know that my personal favourite ALMOST made it to the top three.

yay.
