That's assuming they are actually going to show up in this episode rather than a completely new set of characters.
It would actually be kind of nice if we see some returning characters trying to help Rarity acclimate to Canterlot society.

I assume the literacy rate is pretty much 100%. After all, the setting is basically the present day minus technology. And they do all go to school.

Also, I think that people worry about Schizo Tech too much. It's not like things were all invented in the same order in different cultures.

Yeah, Pinkie was just being obnoxious at the gala
I was just rewatching MTBPW. During Fluttershy's geekout, I never noticed how Angel was just sitting on Fluttershy's tail in that scene 
It looks so CUTE!
I also didn't realize that when Fluttershy was dragging RD along the ground, RD actually starts flapping her wings to help Fluttershy get her into the air

Most of what we've seen of Ponyville before was a village that kept to its customs. The recent appearance of the modern stuff is basically upgrading works, and the dam had been there previously but was mainly used as a reservoir and a water source for irrigation when the pegasi can't get enough vapor to make rainclouds.
