I've not read FO:E, but Fallout as a whole tends to just barely land on the Idealism side of the Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism. So it having uplifting moments and an overall positive outlook wouldn't surprise me.

@Ginger: I don't like MLP grimdark any more than you do, but I don't bring up the fact every time someone mentions the subject. As long as they aren't actually bringing the grimdarkness into the thread (via graphic description of violence or whatever which I think really shouldn't be posted here), there's nothing wrong with them discussing it. Well, other than the fact that it really should go in the MLP fanfic thread; we made the thread so we wouldn't have to discuss fanfic stuff here. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you get to bother everyone else by complaining about it all the time, or tell people to stop discussing it. If you don't like the direction the current conversation is taking either bring up something you want to talk about, or give the thread a rest for an hour or two until the subject changes.

Just not these characters. I started watching this show because I wanted to find something idealistic as a counterpoint to all the darkness I surround myself with (and even then, I want it to be HOPEFULL darkness ) I don't want to imagine these characters suffering horrifically, even if the end result is positive. That's what I watch shows like Code Geass for.

I love these characters too much. I love this setting so much

I don't like it either, for pretty much precisely those reasons, but it doesn't mean that you get to keep other people from talking about it. Just take a break from the thread for a few hours if it goes in a direction you don't like. That's what I do.
