I now have The Bill theme tune stuck in my head...and I couldn't be happier.

I will trawl through all my knowledge of police slang...I'm not afraid to throw some US terms in too.

Also, I drew Chips and Gravy:

Chips is young, lean, wears stylish sunglasses, and has great teeth.

Gravy is fat, wears more old fashioned aviators, and has a cup of cofee and a doughnut.

If there was, I think the detective would be subservant to the forennsic investigator. He'd have his own instincts, but would mostly stick to the cold, hard logical reasoning of the FI (whom I'm only imagining ISN'T going outside because he doesn't like it out there)

It's kinda like:

FI: Has all the knowledge, but lacks the smarts

D: Needs a little help with the science, but has all the smarts.

Bring the FI some evidence he'll have it analyzed in no time, but he needs someone to go out and GET IT first

Hm... I don't know. I'd sort of seen them as being roughly equal. Like, they both have their specialties - FI analyzing the evidence found, and D actually finding it - but when it comes to the middle ground of putting the peices together, they're pretty much even and work well together, bouncing ideas off one another.

Maybe they just have opposite stylzes of it. FI is very precise, very logical, and D has a good gut for it. As they work together, FI leanrs to trust D's gut, and looks to find ways that they link up together, while D learns that sometimes his gut can be wrong, and uses FI's linear train of thought to point him towards the right connection.

I don't know if there's a trope for that. Like, a power trio but without the superego. Just Ego and Id - instinct, and reason. Either way, I still ike the thought of them getting really close to a conclusion, and they just start shouting ideas back and forth in rapidfire, and nopony else can figureo ut what's goi8ng on but suddenly they both know the answer.

They're giving Rainbow Dash the same treatment Rarity got in the synopsis for "Suited For Success" (though that one at least had proper grammar).

Oh yeah, definitely. He spends all the time holed up in his lab. Their shared office would probably be a nightmare - equipment, evidence, and notes strewn everywhere.

You know looking at that synopsis again I wonder just how much of the mare-do-well we're going to actually see. Like, is she going to come in and snipe Dash whenever she tries to be awesome, or is Dash just going to try stuff out of her league and screw up?

Either way, fingers still crossed that it's a new one-shot pony. I don't think we've even had a one-shot pegasus yet. Just a unicorn, and a few earth ponies.

Notes on WHAT?! May I ask? They're in PONYVILLE! I can only imagine those two've been putting an ungodly amount of effort into solving the most minor of mysteries until now because they have literally NOTHING else to do!

Granted. However, the Link being pictured is Twilight Link, who is a young man, wears chainmail, and lugs around several magically weighted items including a massive ball-and-chain, a set of Spinners, Double Clawshots, and the Heavy Iron Boots. That's a lot of loadage even for an Earth Pony.

And yet they could still carry it.

Earth pony ability is inability to be too encumbered.

You now picture Earth Epona grabbing Link's ball-and-chain and distracting Ganondorf during the final battle.

@Ginger: lord only knows. Maybe there actually is a vague mystery going on in ponyville, but it isn't given any attention because it isn't dangerous and they just track it because they have nothing better to do? Or, or, maybe they're so bored that they've started to play mind games with one another to entertain themselves and keep in practice - they concoct elaborate mysteries for one another, dropping key evidence, and they try and solve it without the others help. It's become a giant game to see which of them is best. Or maybe they're trying to solve the mystery of who this mysterious mare-do-well is!

Hm... seeing a earth pony be badass on-screen would definitely trump my desire to see a pegasus one-shot baddie. Curse you Ginger and Applelight, you've really got me liking those little underdog scamps, now! *Fist shake*.
