Maybe there was a group that was similar to the wonderbolts back in the day (a few hundred years ago) who went by the name "The Valkyries" and a song was made about them because they were awesome?

It'd explain why RD knows the tune, I assume she'd be up on the themes of the greatest flying teams in all of Equestria

I can't really see how religion would work in Equestria. You have a god whom you can SEE FOR YOURSELF EVERY MORNING!! (if you live in Canterlot)

The Pegasus cop is called Chips...and is a lard ass.

The Inspecter is called Desk Jockey.

These are just my musings.

the patrol officers are either pegasi or earth ponies.

Toy have mane in same colour as Vinyl.

They are like the others. Strange, hideous, resisting, fighting. Only these were not like the others. They did not die.

there needs to be at least one detective on this force. I imagine he'd be a unicorn too (telekinesis would let him analyze a crime scene and take down notes better)

Here's some other names:

Wooden Top: This is a nickname for patrol officers as used by detectives.

Jam Butty: Old slang for a traffic car. (Actually, I like that as a traffic pegasus name).

Sus Law: Old police powers.

Unicorns are Detectives/Office workers

E Ps are patrol officers

Pegasi are traffic/high speed pursuit cops (I can imagine Chips holding a massive light of some kind and acting like a helicopter with a search light while Peeler chases after somepony

)

Well, I imagine that Chips COULD take a more active part in chasing down perps and the like if he were more in shape, but since he's so fat, they've kinda just decided to find any use for him that they can

Well, I suggested the name Chips because someone referred to him as a motorcycle cop. So there could be two of them - an older, fatter one named Jam Butty and a younger, fitter one named Chips.

While Jam Butty sounds funnier. Chips sounds more like an actual name. Plus, someone could angrily Yell "CHIPS!!" more fluidly than one could yell "JAM BUTTY!!" I feel

Hm... making him a forensics detective style thing might be interesting. But I would prefer to see him hunkered in his lab, pouring over notes rather than any fancy new tech making his job easier for him.

Ah, well that's alright then. I just always liked really old fashioned detectives, so Norman Jayden's fancy glasses and gloves just wouldn't sit right with me, over old fashioned chemicals/magic and attention to detail. Giving him some scientist-y traits would be pretty cool, I think.

Guys, I had the imagine of a Minotaur rampaging through town...and Chips is first on scene, and all they can do is hover above it and issue some puny warnings.

Then, Peeler shows up, and hits it with the wagon. As in, he smashes the wagon over it's head! Long story short...Peeler wins, and ties the brute up with chains.
