Is it me, or is there a bit of fear in RD's voice between "It's fun" and "I've flown it a million times myself" right before the gorge race?

or I could just be hearing things

My favorite pony out of the mane six changes all the time, but it's never been Rainbow Dash. After today's episode... it's still not Rainbow Dash. She's just too jerkish.

She didn't sound like she was at her most confident. Its kind of weird.

Maybe she was showing a little bit of concern for the Pet's safety? Perhaps she was thinking: "On second thought, maybe this IS a bit too dangerous... but I can't SAY that, it'd make me look bad. Nah I'm just overthinking things" and after the race started, the thrill of the race made her forget about her concerns.

I swear her egotism falls into BLACK STAR territory sometimes. For those who don't know who that is, that's... pretty egotistical.

Hmm, I guess I could see that.

As for that claim, I have never actually seen an episode of Soul Eater but looking the character page I can see what your getting at (Rainbow still needs to make a boast about how she is going to surpass the Royal Pony Sisters before I go that far).

Don't get me wrong, she isn't as egotistical as someone like Light Yagami and I only said that she's SOMETIMES like Black Star. (in this episode for instance)

At least it's clear that there are people whom RD respects (AJ, Celestia, Tank)

Good episode. The song was great, and all the moments with Tank were pretty funny.

I agree with the person who said that Luna should get the bat. Batty is just too cool to never be seen again.

once again, kinda disappointed they went for the obvious cliche of the tur...tortoise. And yet once again impressed by how very very well they pulled it off despite it being so cliched.

Batty even had his own "underdog" thing going on during the race. First his small frame gets him blown back inside the tunnel, then his established sonar powers let him get through the thorns

Others had problem during race to.

Entire race is C Mo A for those animals.

I actually kinda felt for Rainbow in the scene near the end, when the rest of the mane six declared the falcon the winner. You could totally tell that Rainbow felt indebted to Tank and had begun to really like him, but also knew that the falcon had really earned it as well.

At least she was able to let the falcon save face and acknowledge his feat.

By the way, I like how some of the events showed that the writers knew the capabilities of these animals. You know, how the falcon won the speed competition hands-down, and how the hummingbird (the only bird that can flawlsessly fly backwards) aced the agility competition.

I liked that too. The show earned the E/I badge this ep.

Finally got caught up with the episode and this thread!

Right, here's my thoughts;

1. Excited Fluttershy is best pony!

2. Rainbow is a dick. And a weakling. Can't shift a boulder? Fuckin' Twilight could!

3. A song! A song! OH PRAISE DA LORD, WE GOTTA SONG!.....and it was pretty decent too!

4. Too...many...cute...animals!

5. Guns and Tanks exist in Equestria. Helicopter devices exist in Equestria. The Clockpunk OC is justified.....in owning a 40k style AssaultCannon.

6. Tank the tortoise is awesome. Gummy is still my favourite, but Tank...u kewl.

Great episode overall. 7 outta 10.

That good thing, because it was bad for show.

also, that boulder was a lot bigger then Tom.

I think he meant the way she lugged a BOULDER around in Return Of Harmony part 1

though leverage would play an important part. Twilight lifted Tom with her back. RD wasn't in a position to do that.

Exactly. Twilight either had it put directly on her, or was shoving it around with magic. She never had to lift it from the ground.

and I'll bet that pegasi, while athletic and acrobatic, aren't very strong, in terms of raw muscle ability. They have to be slim and lithe to go fast in the air. That is to say, I'll bet Applejack could have tilted or rolled the thing, but Rainbow couldn't have.

Plus, the thing was on top of a "limb", so I'm betting it was difficult to shift about enough to shove the thing.
