Orion probably has a lot of fun with Prance Prance Revolution.

We don't have anything like Dance Dance Revolution.
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.

Well, I thought it was funny. And pretty. And witty. And spayed.
My favorite song from 'Quest Side Story is the one with the chorus:

I want to be in Equestria!
Okay for me in Equestria!
Everything's free in Equestria!
For a small fee in Equestria!
And, since today is apparently National Jump To Conclusions Day...

On a scale of one to ten, how much of a Mary Sue IS a bat Pegasus, anyway? I know they've appeared a time or two in canon, but they aren't that common, are they?
An absolutely horrible person. Really.

as far i know, they're not that different from pegasi.

I've met a bat pony before. He was just like any other pegasus that I've met.

The only difference so far are cosmetic. Hell for all we know, they could had been Luna using illusions to change their appearance for Dramatic Entrance (not that far-fecthed when you considered she changed into Nightmare Moon later in the episode)

We're given no proper information about what they are or what they can do, so they're kind of fair game when all's said and done. I mean we HAVE only seen them once, but that was the only episode that really had any significant time spent at night, so far as I recall.

According to... I think Fuast? They're thought of as being subterranean in nature. But she's not really an expert anymore. Until something is said on the show, we don't know.

On a scale of one to ten, they're a threven.

Really, it depends on how you use them. If you put serious thought into how a batpony fits into Equestrian society, no one who matters will mind. If you use their batpony-ness as a handwave for them to be better than the mane six at everything, readers will cry foul, and for good reason.

What Meta said.

The thing to remember about Mary Sues is that Common Mary Sue Traits are symptoms, not the disease itself.

Besides, having a walking MAry Sue checklist as main character doesn't mean you can't get published

Oh, don't even get me started on The Inheritance Cycle. Godmode Sue Luke Skywalker ripoff flies around a Standard Fantasy Setting on his dragon enforcing Protagonist-Centered Morality amidst one of the worst Cliché Storms you'll ever see while the whole thing is written in Purple Prose.

-checks summary-

How the hell did this thing win awards! She has five colors in her hair, five! Can seduce men easily and has a huge amount of power. Oh and anyone who doesn't love her is evil. Gag me with a spoon.

And the Inheritance Cycle is bad, but the author at least tries to give him flaws and actually developes the world and characters around him.

And to be fair, Star Wars is hardly original either. It's a mash of Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, some themes from Dune, and taking some inspiration from Poul Anderson's works.

You know, as much as Eragon is a cliche storm, I didn't find it that bad. The sequel on the other hand got so boring that I simply couldn't continue.
