For whatever reason, I've never thus far found a straight Lyrabon ship fic. They've been in the background as those two mares.

When you say a straight Lyrabon ship fic, do you mean a fic where they are both shipped with stallions, or one where they are the focus? I think you mean the latter, in which case yeah, they're usually already an established couple in most fics. Probably because we see them together so often in the show they're assumed to already be together, hence no focus on fics getting them to hook up.

Really, I would've thought that Lyra Bon shipfic would be fairly commonplace too, given how popular that pairing is. I guess people avoid it because they want to do something they think would be more interesting, perhaps.

I read one a long time ago that was about Lyra's secret feelings for a homophobic Bonbon. Bonbon became gradually more obsessed with protecting herself and Lyra from a perceived outbreak of rampant lesbianism in Ponyville because they saw a couple mares kiss in public to the point of a Twilight-esque paranoid breakdown. I don't remember the title, though.

Yeah, I'm guilty of starting them off as a pairing, mainly because I wanted an established couple in my story to act as foils for Twilight and Applejack and they fit the bill. Also because I discovered that Bon Bon is a lot of fun to write if you make her extremely sardonic.

If I ever get into fanficing as a regular thing, I have an idea for one. It'll follow Lyra who's a depressed student at Canterlot High. After delving into her for a bit, she accidentally walks into the portal. With Bon Bon being one of the first ponies she meets. Which will then follow them as Bon Bon helps her find a place in Equestria and focus on their growing friendship into romance.

That Scrunchbattle animation is really cute... but does anyone really pronounce it Lie-ra? I always pronounced it Lee-ra. Y'know, like you pronounce Lyre. Which is what her cutie mark is.
