Ug, all these different genre names. I don't think I'll ever understand the difference.

The only reason I have is because at a summer camp I went to, my conselor blared R Evolution Deathsquad on the spakers at 7:30 each morning to get people out of the building, and it quickly became an earworm.

If you get confused at the different metal subgenres, then EDM must be hell for you XD

Though really, speed metal should be easy to figure out, the main defining trait being high tempos :P

Don't know if I'd call myself a "fan", but I have several of their songs bookmarked on YouTube.

Thirikal mentioned doo-wop. This is my favorite doo-wop song. It was poorly-recorded, even by 1957 standards. It took me quite a while to figure out the lead instrument was a piano and not an acoustic bass. The bass singer doing the "Uuuuuh" vocal sounds kind of...ill, and the guy singing the high "Oooooh" part is in a different key from the rest of the guys in the group, but I love it anyway. You'd think they would have called the song "Baby Gee" instead of "Do-Wah". Most people who were looking for this song probably didn't know the name. That wasn't how you sold records.

I'm sure most of you don't care, but I'm gonna pimp this song anyway.

It's hard to tell what I like, but I think I'm particularly fond of chiptunes and stringed instruments.

Wow, the production value on that song is absolutely horrendous! It sounds as if the recording equipment was struggling not to give up the ghost.

@Sydxelia: Your comment about heavy metal artists sounding like Cookie Monster gave me a funny mental image of Cookie Monster as a rock star. (I like pretty much all kinds of music, myself, I can't say that I dislike any specific genre, more like there might be individual songs I wouldn't like but not an entire genre)

I've been watching through all the pony episodes on weekends on a schedule that will put Magical Mystery Cure as the one I would watch on the Saturday before November 23 (which is when season 4 starts) and today I've watched Call of the Cutie and I noticed some interesting things about it.

One is that Amethyst Star is also at Diamond Tiara's party with Dinky. Given that I'm pretty sure this was the episode that started the fanon idea that Dinky is Derpy's daughter, I thought it was interesting to note that Dinky's canon sister was at the party with her too, although it's probably a coincidence because I doubt that they would have been planning the specific background sister pairs for Sisterhooves Social that far ahead (unless they were and it was an early hint).

The other thing is that at first I thought "Well, now we know Rainbow Dash is to blame for the CMC thinking that you can make your cutie mark appear by trying random activities" but then I realized that it makes sense for Rainbow Dash to think that way. Not necessarily that she got her own cutie mark that way (I don't think she ever said she was engaged in trying to make it happen at the time) but that Rainbow Dash isn't a very introspective pony who would want to do any self-reflective thinking about her talents and passions. She also would know very well what it feels like to be impatient, and is definitely the type who would think "just get out there and make it happen" because that's how she lives life in general.

That, and for her it basically worked; she went out, did something, and got her CM. She doesn't realize that it only worked for her because she already knew what she wanted and didn't really have to do any reflection.
