[up]@Ace: From what I've seen, most are just modding the leaked version to add Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy as well other characters they feel like adding. One of them looks fairly close to replicating the Canterlot Gardens build Rainbow Dash (plus a Hurricane Kick, a Ranbu-type lv 1 super, and an unfinished lv 3 super which includes a Super Move Portrait Attack) and Fluttershy from the teaser video.

This card game looks really interesting.

And I'm real happy to be working on Fo F again. Fancy himself is in need of some consolidation.

Just getting invited to something like EVO should have been more than enough motivation to keep going. Even before that they were getting tons of attention.

It was probably enough to get them C&Ded anyway too. The only sure way to avoid attention is to conduct development pretty much in secret. Remember, there were other fangames with much less exposure that also got C&Ded.

It seems like it would be difficult and tedious to do without the original development files. Unless they were using one of those engines that includes all the original source and assets in the shipped version like Game Maker.

Yeah, the card game looks cool, but I only know of one person I could play against, and he's an avid gamer who kicks my butt at pretty much everything.

CCG certainly sounds interesting. It's interesting to see them seeming to make a game that does sound inline with the tone of the show, though it does make it sound weird compared to other CC Gs.

Okay cool, good to see everything's calm for the time being. Thankfully I'm in a better mood than last night so that's a good thing. So how is Queen Whatsherface as a villain? Sorry but I don't know how to spell the name.

Ace: Skullgirls is what the current game is supposed to be developed on. I can't remember the engine they were originally using (it was something really generic-sounding like "Fighter Maker"), but I believe the devs said it was easy to pick up, but really temperamental about doing anything complex with.

It was probably enough to get them C&Ded anyway too. The only sure way to avoid attention is to conduct development pretty much in secret. Remember, there were other fangames with much less exposure that also got C&Ded.

Perhaps, but they might have been able to buy enough time to finish. They could have held back a lot more, that's for sure.

As for the other games, there was what, the episodic MMO that launched a Kickstarter for their second episode? That was an almost equally bold move. Then there's the MtG set, where I can understand why Wizards wouldn't want a full card set circulating, since releasing new sets is how MtG makes any money. Plus the current CCG was likely in early development, meaning Hasbro as a whole would have had a stake in getting rid of it too.

Hasbro had legal reasons to not allow an unofficial Pony expansion set for MTG.

Also I was expecting them to make the CCG such you could win by assembling a full set of Elements of Harmony in a fashion like how Pokemon TCG lets you win by simply collecting all the "prize" cards you put aside at the start of the battle.

They were planning on using the Skullgirls engine.

So basically it's an independent clone of Fi M, rather than trying to continue development from the leaked build?

I do agree that the magic/pony C&D more likely came from the Magic side then the MLP. And, oh did not know they launched a kickstarter to raise money.. that would explain the C&D while Legends of Equestria is still going.

Nah, that would have been the engine for the original game. They're still using it for the de-ponified final game, I think.

@Starscream: Queen Chrysalis is possibly one of the most threatening villains in the show, and probably the one that came closest to achieving her goal.

Sombra came pretty dang close as well; if not for Shining's Wife-Throwing abilities he would've eaten Spike.

I guess it's harder to take Sombra seriously since he's more of an abstract threat. Also there's the whole stair fetish thing.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'm in love with the fact that "epic wife tossing" is a meaningful phrase in this fandom.

the closest approximation to that phrase in any other fandom is "MY-WIFE-IS-THE-BEST-IN-THE-UNIVERSE SWING!!"

In the gran scheme of things, the other Mane Six really do all that much to save the day? Other than providing a distraction and keeping the festival going, Twi and Spike did all the grunt work.
