Okay, I just finished the first episode of
Lucky Star. To be honest... the majority of it, I didn't find very interesting. In fact, the entire first ten to fifteen minutes I found
really boring. It's almost entirely composed of
Seinfeldian Conversation, but only one of the major characters seemed to have much of a personality (and even then, I can only really describe her as "the nerd").
Seinfeldian Conversation, to me, works best when either the characters end up talking about absolutely ridiculous things, or when the characters themselves have enough charisma to make it worth listening to, and neither of those seemed to happen here. Perhaps the acting is more animated in the original Japanese, in which case it might be a bit more amusing.
It picked up some toward the end, but the only part I actually found funny was the bit before the credits, and I'm going to go ahead and assume the characters in that part aren't going to be main characters.
I'll go ahead and watch the second episode at some point in the hope that
It Gets Better, but my first impression wasn't all that good here.
