In other news, I just came across this video. The background image reminds me of why I think humanized unicorns with horns look so stupid.

My upbringing with Final Fantasy has desensitized me to humanoids with unicorn horns.

I'd like to think that instead of horn, unicorn human will have their cutie mark tattooed in the back of their hand. It glows when the user uses magic.

Wait, who in Final Fantasy has a horn sticking out of their forehead?

Any given Summoner aside from Rydia and Garnet, I suppose.

Anyway, that's a Touhou character in that video. Namely, Yuugi Hoshiguma. She's an Oni, sort of a specific kind of demon.

Or you could give the unicorn humans elven features.

How about a sort of "third eye" mark on their forehead? Either a mark on their skin, or an embedded jewel or something.

Ooh, I like that. Some might have a problem with the aesthetics, though.

That might work if done right, and not creepy.

It could double as the location of the Cutie Mark, or it could just be a dot or gem in the pony version's coat color.

Though, a Cutie Mark varint would make it look less like one is trying to reference Hindu tradition.

Why not just have normal heads?

That's fine if the interpretation is of the characters as normal-looking humans. However, there is also the possibility of interpreting them as humans with certain pony features, like wings for Pegasi.

Wings are ok but I don't think there's any way to make horns look good.

I agree with Mio and JT on Pinkie (Though she's still my least favourite of the Mane Six)

I also like going the elf-route for humanised unicorns.

I just wanted to say too, that I apriecate the feedback on my humanisations. It's good to hear criticisms. It's the only way you'll get better.

The key now is to develop this stylised design to improvement. Basically I want them to look like cartoon characters still, not actual people. Because I can't draw people.
