Most people who've seen Equestria Girls seemed to like it. I felt it was about as good as one of the show's lesser episodes, but not bad.

So anyway I'm listening to Lindsey Stirling's album, and I realized it fits really well with the sort of music you'd imagine Octavia and Vinyl Scratch to make together, violin + dubstep. It's really good stuff (and is probably the ONLY dubstep I can really stand).

PMV for relevancy.

I liked EQG, too.

In other news, I just watched Snowdrop for the first time. Because the latest Friendship Is Witchcraft episode had a parody of it, and I wanted the context to get it. Way to go, Sherclop: by making fun of it, you convinced me to watch it.
And, since today is apparently National Jump To Conclusions Day...

I'm pretty sure I'd like Equestria Girls too. When it got leaked onto Youtube last week I watched a good bit of it and liked it, but I haven't seen the whole thing though apparently it'll be on the Hub on Labor Day weekend.

Ya kidding me right? The human versions of the Mane Six look like Bratz dolls and they are so UNATURALLY thin.

And the pony versions eyes are UNNATURALLY large, what's your point?

I couldn't sit through Snowblind, I got bored. I did check out that Children Of The Night Luna song thing, and it was quite good. Animation was really different from the show, but not in a bad way.

The plot wasn't fantastic, but the execution wasn't half bad and as indicated on the EG thread, I'd quite like a sequel film or miniseries to explore it more. They bring up so much and leave it by the wayside for the fairly flat plot.

And awesome another Stirling fan, her stuff's fantastic.

I liked EQG, but I feel like it was good in spite of Executive Meddling, not because of it.

Before I go to bed I'll say that EG was good, from what I saw of it.

[up][up] Yeah, I think they made the best of a bad premise.

Yeah, I think they made the best of a bad premise.

Also stuff like Flash Sentry getting shoehorned in.

I have more to confess. I like Flash and I now ship him with Twilight.

Also, I didn't only like EQG, I predicted that I'd like it long before it came out.

[up][up][up][up][up][up][up] (Sighs) Your the one that brought up Esquerita Girls, not me. But anyways is it really worth seeing? Some people hate it, some people like it, some people thought it was okay overall do you think that it's mixed as a whole?

Before seeing it, I saw a lot of complaints about Flash, but...I really didn't get it after watching. He seemed fine to me.

[up]It's pretty good*. I have a few issues with the plot, but overall, it's good. If anything, it should be given a shot.

The jokes and characterization make it work. It's had some of the best humour in quite some time. But yeah, a mixed bag.

@Sereg: He wasn't overly irritating or anything, but he was completely unnecessary. Every one of his scenes could have been removed with no impact on the plot (other than him clearing Twi's name with Luna, but any of her friends could have done that). Even the little romance tease with him and Twi went nowhere.

[up][up] I actually think Sunset was the best part of the movie, but she would have been a MUCH more interesting villain back in Equestria. I think the climax of the movie should have taken place there.

[up] Most of the humor I enjoyed was visual. The actual jokes and dialogue were kind of meh.

So Hasbro can't be fully blamed for that evil decision of making EQG?

Heh, I should try to find and read those comics online.

At any rate, I liked the callback to Fluttershy's meeting with Twi.

And I think they should have given Flash's scenes to Dash, if only for something for her to do. I heard maybe half a page of dialogue from her in the film.

@dark: Well it would have made more sense as a way for RD to join the team instead of what they actually did.

@Blue about Flash. That seems fair. I couldn't really think of anything he did besides the picture thing anyway.

And for the climax... I was expecting so much more from the vague descriptions I got before seeing it. It was just kind of disappointing when her demon form or whatever ended up just being pretty lame. Design-wise and what she does. Demon pony would probably look cooler. Seeing more of what Sunset could do as a pony would definitely have been nice. I think I just felt like most of the time, there was more about Snips and Snails than her.

[up][up][up] Take a look at basically ANY western animation. Massive bodily exaggeration is standard. At least in Equestrian Girls they look essentially human, which is more than can be said for say, Phineas and Ferb.

Dash definitely got shafted for screentime. It took 37 minutes for her human version to show up on screen (yeah, I noticed).

They could have used Photo Finish as well, since she'd probably be good at spotting fake photos.

estly, I don't have a problem with a character being unnescessary. After al, I hate the Law of Conservation of Detail so much. I think that we should always be left with the impression that there's way more going on than just the main plot.

I can get behind that to an extent. It's the reason why I enjoy Cowboy Bebop so much.
