I don't care whether they were sincere about their fascination with the show or not. They created a sterotypical strawman that represented everything they thought was terrible about the fandom, then implicitly compared everyone in the thread to it. They were needlessly hostile and insulting. They came into the thread purely to stir things up.

Sounds like a troll to me.

How could someone need help with whether they like a show or not? It's not exactly a big issue. Either quit watching it, or decide you're okay with watching it. It's not a complicated choice.

Isn't it at least slightly ironic that, if you want to effectively troll a fanbase you hate, you kind of have to know quite a lot about the subject of your venom? Like, really study what sets people off? Seems like a lot of effort just for the lulz.

I mean this as a general statement. I don't want to apply it to this specific situation since I only caught the rear end of it.

I'm reminded of the bizarre stunts Unwinder pulls. Like trolling a Linkin Park message board... by posing as a constructive member of the fandom for over a year before posting the comments that provoke the other members into a frenzy.
