How committed are you to the games industry? From what I've heard life is much better outside of it. I know there are people who used to work on games in my office, so there are other options, especially if you're good at programming.
Well, I've spent 56, 000 dollars on an education, so I'd say pretty damn committed.
But the money isn't the only thing, obviously. I like making games, and I really want to do it. It's just hard to start a career. I've enjoyed the time I've worked in WB, and frankly I'm never going to find a job where there isn't some corporate annoyance. Games probably has the least, as far as that's concerned.
I mean, I've got back up plans, sure. I could try to get an actual novel published, see how that goes. I consider a big part of my job to basically be teaching anyways, so I've given some thought to getting an actual teaching license. But it'll have to be a while of no dice before I finally pack it in with the industry.
(Also I'm shit at programming. Trying to get better though.)
