Good point, but in that case, Firefly could probably have had a similar change of character between when she was Dash's age and when she (hypothetically) gave birth to Dash.

Maybe. I was operating off the assumption that Faust would make Fire Fly roughly the same as Rainbow Dash if she included her, but that can't be known for sure, and at this point it's kind of moot anyway.

@Hsere: Two things:

1. As noted, RD has developed a lot since S1.

2. Acting like a big sister figure and being a big sister aren't quite the same. The latter implies that the two of them grew up together and that RD would be regularly forced to deal with/take care of a sister even when she didn't want to. She's cool with Scoots because Scoots generally isn't too clingy and isn't a constant presence. She only hangs out with Scoots when she wants to. If they were real sisters, it would be very likely that she'd get annoyed at having to put up with her even when she didn't want to. And she doesn't have the patience that AJ and Rarity do.

If the two of them were blood sisters I imagine that Scootaloo would not look up to RD. Quite the opposite really. I also imagine them getting into fights a lot.

Exactly. RD is fine with acting like a Cool Big Sis at points, but I doubt she'd do well if she had to deal with Scootaloo all the time growing up.

Posey was probably Fluttershy's mom. I don't think she has the same love of gardens as Posey, but they do share a love of nurturing, animals in Flutter's case rather than plants.

Every time I think of Posey, I'm reminded of the time she gave Optimus Crab a Smooch of Victory, and this somehow leads to Fluttershy/Optimus Prime shipping in my head.

....Holy shit, the whole Rarity vs Giant Crab thing has some basis in My Little Pony! Crab Nasties! It all makes sense now! Sort of! Not really! I don't know anymore!

That was pretty awesome to get MR Prime on, but there were tons of well-known V As who got their start on 80s pony. You'll recognize at least half the cast. It's always funny to hear Bart Simpson's voice coming out of a pony.

It's in honor of Derpy Hooves I assume.

Fluttershy had never seen the ground before getting her cutie mark, so it's really unlikely that her mother is an earth pony like Posey (aunt or grandmother is possible though).

And yeah, Derpibooru is where you usually go for pony art.

Derpy Hooves is the (warning opinion) annoyingly prevalent background pony the fandom decided to elevate to mascot.

Back from Derpibooru. Whoah, you weren't kidding when you said it had everything. Just looking at the list of tags that are hidden/spoilered by default is quite telling; and then the tag cloud list... Hooo boy.

Lauren originally saw Derpy and Ditzy as two different ponies. She was happy to fuze them though.

I also prefer the name Ditzy Doo, but Derpy is now official and more prevalent, so I cope. Huh, I don't think I knew that Derpy and Ditzy were originally meant to be two separate ponies. You learn something new every day.

Eeyup. Kind of like Cloudchaser Stormwalker.

Appaently, she had been considering adding a klutzy pony anyway who would constantly get into trouble, who was naturally mentioned in Winter Wrap Up as Ditzy. Then she heard about Derpy and liked her even more than her original idea, including the fact that the two had different forms of klutziness. She thought of the two as different ponies for a while, but decided that she wanted to use Derpy more than Ditzy and possibly make them into the same pony.

EDIT: Ninja'd. Yeah, Anthropomrphized refers to only part way in this fandom.

I think there are some conflicting accounts on the thing. I think the story is that Lauren planned to have a silly background character named Ditzy Doo (mentioned in "Winter Wrap Up") and when Derpy became popular considered using her design for Ditzy but didn't want to step on anyone's toes.

But yeah, MLP, the only show where the Recurring Extras are just as interesting as the main cast apparently.
