You know, seeing some discussion about romance on the EQG thread {I lurk there, but I never post. You never know when I might be watching you

}, I feel kind of like I should clarify why I like shipping some of the mane 6 with eatchother {Not all at once, mind you} instead of having them gain a canon romantic interest.
See, when it comes to something like Twidash or Rarijack for instance, those two charactors have well-enough established and interesting personalities that I think their interactions would be amusing and cute. But whenever someone tries to actually force romance into a Tv Show or anything else that doesn't need it, my interest plummits quickly. 98% of the time, the love interest is about as interesting as a cardboard box. When two charactors who's personalities have already been well-established are together or at least get tons of
Ship tease, I don't usually mind, but most romance stuff seems to just want to suddenly introduce someone for the protagonist to fall in love with, without giving them any actual interesting personality traits.
And that's why I really don't like Flash Sentry {Besides the fact that his name is actually kind of cool and should have went to a much better charactor} from what I've heard of him. All the personality I can gather from him from what everyone has said is that he has guitar skills and is willing to be awkward for Twilight.
What a great and well-thought-out charactor, totally not bland at all. Not to mention that, from the sounds of it, nothing of importance would have been lost if he was cut out of the film, which begs the question as to why he was even greated. Well, except for shoe-horning a romance plot into yet another thing that doesn't need it.
TLDR: Flash Sentry seems no diffrent then any other generic love interest that was awkwardly inserted into something that didn't need one, Whereas Mane 6 shipping can actually be intresing and amusing if handled right.
