True. I actually got The Children of Húrin for my 21st birthday (it had just come out). It somehow ended up even more depressing than in The Silmarillion. But I still enjoyed it. But man, talk about Downer Ending!

EDIT: A while ago, I said that Beren and Luthien would make good fits for Shining Armor and Cadance respectively. Who would the other charatcers be? I guess that Celestia could be Melian.

Well, for the past page, we've been talking about Ea (the Tolkienverse). I just said, that if Shiny is Belen and Cadance is Luthien, then Celestia is Melien.

@d Roy: It's insane. I've seen screencaps of characters with 7-digit integer attack stats and literally hundreds of millions of HP. I've just started with Disgaea myself and I've barely gotten past the first 60 levels of XP yet. The grind will be faster once I build a godly weapon with Item World abuse.

I gotta say, that is pretty absurd, but not in an entirely negative way. If nothing else, it sounds amusing.

It was a joke. I actually consider Sombra to be very intelligent.

But, for example, let's look at Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. I like Yuuno more than Nanoha, but I completely acknowledge that he's less powerful. That's part of what makes him cool.

EDIT: People have calculated how to do billions of HP in damage in Dn D (and that's excluding infinite damage loops). Mostly by creating antimatter or throwing a moon at someone.

Laharl's old man had basically broke his world 3 times in different ways from excitement at good news (presumably he fixed it later or something). Splitting mountains, breaking the oceans, and things like that when he (1) married Laharl's mother, (2) got her pregnant, and (3) had Laharl born. Also Laharl is powerful enough to casually wipe out a space-worthy Netherworld invasion Fleet sent by Earth that numbered in the billions, yet he is skilled/merciful enough to let the vast majority of the fleetcrew eject/escape being destroyed with their ships, even though (4) a rival Lv750 Overlord from another world was easily 20 times his power and more than 10 times his size was able to overwhelm him by dividing into 10 dopplegangers. His unique ingame battle skills include (1) powerbombing enemies hard enough to cause a magma eruption where he lands, (2) basically dropping a shower of miniature suns on enemies, and (3) summoning a meteor on top of his enemies) (haven't gotten his final skills yet). He can also learn a swordskill that slashes the fabric of space itself, the Dimension Slash (AKA your best bet for killing the bonus bosses like Baal).

Sombra is the Stephen Hawking of the ponyverse, he just got pissed off that nopony is interested in physics and astronomy.
