You'd think that they'd get a higher def version for playing on the big screen.

@Crowfall: Some theaters have switched from film to digital media. Easier to handle. Also the cinema Blu-Ray discs usually have some kind of DRM keyed to cinema projectors.

@Ace: Blu Rays are pretty easy to steal, though.

Anyway, I'm not sure leaking it on the web is necessarily going to make that big of a difference, since the movie will be out by next week anyway and I don't think Hasbro is really expecting $Texas numbers from this. It is just a TV movie given a (limited?) theater release after all. DVD sales and TV ratings probably are more meaningful.

@Ed: Hence the DRM and/or encryption of cinema Blu-Rays, so only the specific type of projectors used in cinema can decrypt them.

I wonder if it will be showing at the theaters near here.

I wonder if Hasbro Singapore will be bringing it in. No legit import = time to resort to yayponies.eu

Unfortunately it's either wait and hope or pirate. Nice options for us over here. In general, not just this.

If it does come to a real theater, I wonder how many are brave enough to go see it. Hopefully there are lots of bronies in the area.

Also, the post fire bot looked like crude stop motion several times.

It probably was. The first Terminator movie was made in 1984 — before I was even born.

The second one was 1991 and has actual CG. The plot device they use is actually really clever in hindsight given their limitations — it makes the stuff they need to render really computationally lightweight but still looks cool.

IIRC Terminator 2 and The Abyss were the big two that kicked off large-scale CG in movies. And for all the crap blockbusters today get about all CG and no substance, those two did it right.

You guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuysssss!

Why you move this thread so fast!

I mean, not so fast, but fast enough that being gone for a couple of days makes me incapable of catching up without a heavy investment of time I don't have!?

Good morning everyone. I have to admit I'm kind of disappointed I missed out on the shipping shenanigans last night, but I missed it for a good reason. I actually attempted to tackle my social anxiety and went out to drink, hobnob, and see Korean performance art troupe Action Drawing Hero at the Smithsonian's Freer & Sackler galleries. It was pretty sweet, and on the way home I crossed paths with an urban fox, which are terribly rare in DC. We regarded each other from about 4 feet away for roughly 5 minutes before going on our ways. It was neat.

[up]Happy belated birthday!

Foxes aren't geniuses, but they're pretty street smart and cunning.

This is well-animated :D

...huh, there's been a lot of IRL photos posted on Derpi these past few hours. A number of them appear to be posted by an exhibitionist showing off herself with her pony collection.
